Hull v Blackpool start us off tonight, after a long awaited start to the Championship. Just seen this on the SSN website, and think it's a more then fair prediction were we finish in the league. Would most agree? It's also got a top 6 prediction which you could say is fair, maybe slightly shuffled about. Sure there will be many twists and turns to come, and who knows, it could be us. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11689_7066317,00.html
Good morning Maesteg. Yes, I think it's a fair assesment. I think MM will take until Christmas to see how we are going, and I think we will then be able to get an appraisal of how the boards commitment to promotion is holding up. The trouble is, expectancy will be high with the idea that DJ was sacked in order to get someone better. Interesting times.
I'm not bothered about the others but a few championship previews I've read have been fairly consistent with where we'll finish (5th - 8th). With a few extra players to come in (hopefully) in the next few weeks or Jan, there's no reason why we can't....It's a long season so time will tell. Clingo, personally speaking, expectation came back to bite me hard last year and if MM had taken over the same squad, I'd anticipate the same, if not better but we've now got practically a new team so, although optimistic, I've no expectations for this year. I know others have a different opinion but hey, each to their own
Different view from Beagrie http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,,15231_7079850,00.html I know which view I think is a good reflection and it aint PB's
Agreed HBomb. Most times, expectation is a dissapointment in the making. However, hope and ambition and optimism are more than OK. I just want to see ALL employees of the club fully committed to Cardiff City and I think we may be on our way to this.
Let's just enjoy watching the best supported football team in Wales week in week out and see where we are at the half way stage.I am happy to see us underrated.
Everyone keeps coming out with the same statement, youâve lost Burke, chops, Bothroyd and Bellers, we know how good these players are, but why didn't they get us promoted? He's written us off before the season has started. Each to their own I suppose. But January will give us a fair assessment on how we are progressing.
Must admit it has snuck up on me a little. Just started to feel tryly excited about it this afternoon. Now I am feeling a bit nervous about West Ham. First time for quite a while that I have absolutely no idea how we will do!
A fairly reasonable picture although I see they include signings made this week by some clubs but missed Kiss and Gestede off our list so question the overall accuracy. My views on the top 6 clubs shown. Why are Birmingham favourites for a top 6 finish? They have lost a number of good players with Dann and Jerome possibly leaving as well. While they have the first tranche of their parachute payment to come they are in financial turmoil and also have to get rid of that 6 ft 8 ins forward for a pittance as he is costing an arm and leg in wages. The Bluenoses I know are very pessimistic about this season. West Ham - great mid field with the addition of Nolan and Taylor but defence is still crap (losing Upson and Gabbidon) and Green could easily get a move back to the Prem at the right price. Still have Carlton Cole as well. Forest? McLaren is worried about his squad size having lost more than brought in. Reading - If Shane Long leaves they will be nowhere nearly as good. Boro - lost more good players than brought in. Leciester - no hope for any of us there especially if they sign Long. We can only hope they don't gell as a team. Looking at signings made by other clubs I think Ipswich and Derby could do well and if Brighton get a good start then their confidence will be up - so lets hope they lose their first 3 games at least. Southampton need watching as well and I think Pompey will do much better than last year.
I'm looking forward to watch our progression this season, we've signed some pretty vocal players so I can't see to many slackers on the pitch LOL
Iâm quite happy for the pundits to write us off, letâs hope a few teams play us with the same attitude.
Latest odds from VC , BETFAIR, CORAL, BLUESQUARE , AND 888 SPORT for a top 6 finish fron Oddschecker.com West Ham 4/11 1/3 1/3 2/5 37/100 Leicester 2/5 1/3 1/3 2/5 41/100 Nottingham Forest 1 1 1 5/6 22/25 Birmingham 13/8 6/4 6/4 13/8 271/100 Brighton 7/4 7/4 7/4 13/8 36/25 Cardiff 11/8 7/4 7/4 13/8 39/25
its impossible to predict who will finish where in the championship. i remember not too long ago when roy keane went on a spending spree similar to sven at leicester. everyone in the media predicted they would walk the league and from my memory they finished in the bottom half, despite spending vast sums of money. i bet one of leicester and west ham wont go up this season
I thought he was on this board... hold on will check... EDIT: Here we are... doesn't seem to be a regular though, maybe he'll return in the next few days? http://www.not606.com/member.php/1006347-Tigerbaybluebird
He's getting his rest before he has to get his pom pom's out. Try not to take that the wrong way lol.
Don't listen to anything the pundits say, they said we would go up automatic last season and we know what happened. Just a point I would like to make that Brum and the Hammers were sides not good enough for premiership football last season and may find the transition to championship life tougher than they expected. leicester who knows - don't really rate Sven and if results start going against them it could be interesting, could be the same as Middlesbrough when Strachan arrived he brought players from Scotland who really didn't adapt to championship life and he ultimately got the sack. leicester have bought a lot of players who will need to gel quickly. As for us.... time will tell but I prefer for us to be talked about as a top ten side who might make the play offs rather than certs for automatic promotion.
