http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...-FA-charge-for-Franco-Di-Santo-challenge.html ill take that,we need him this is a cue for the bitters to say that we get looked after no doubt.
I'll take that too. But, in truth, it was an horrendous challenge and had the Ref seen it, he would have been off. I suppose they let Lescott get away with it, so it seems pretty much anything goes now.! Lescott would have been banned if he'd done that in Rugby match!
Glad we have him to pick. The challenge was horrendous; No complaints if he had been banned. The lad looked genuinely sorry though. Touch of red mist I suppose. Not like him at all. If he was any more laid back, he'd need smelling salts.
The ref did see it, that's why Benny isn't getting a retro ban, he's still got a retro haircut though
I can't believe he saw that clearly, despite what he may be saying. Otherwise it had to be a straight Red!
Was lucky to get away with it but Lescotts Forearm Smash and Maloudas tackle on Tuesday also got away with it
Football is still a contact sport despite Platini. When two players are fighting over the ball sometimes somebody will get hurt. If it was a deliberate act, sure send them off, otherwise you award a foul one way or the other and carry on.
It's embarrassing, isn't it? All they have to do is recognise that refs don't get a second chance to see it and then they can refer any contraversial decisions to a panel, like they do for when clubs/players appeal. That way there's no choice but to be consistent, the clubs/players can't be tacitcal about whether they appeal to get a player eligible for a certain match and ref's can see what constitutes a red card so we don't get nonsense decisions from the likes of Webb who don't think Lescott's forearm smash constitute violent conduct.
Benny isn't a malicious player but it looked a bad tackle to me and I think it should've been a red card. You win some, you lose some...
It was a leg breaking tackle, how the ref didn't even give a card is a mystery.Benny is a very lucky boy.
Exactly I thought he was going to get a red and I was watching on PC,so how the hell the ref didn't see it is a joke.
He did miss Figueroa stepping on Krancjar, which happened right in front of him, so I can't say that I was too surprised!
Newcastle fan in peace.... Have to say the inconsistency of the FA/Premier League with this retrospective action is disgutsing. Cabaye's challenge in the FA Cup game against Brighton wasn't as bad as Ekotto, Malouda, Lescott, RVP elbow vs Villa, Crouch eye gouge against WBA, I could go on.... Not suggesting there's anything fishy going on against us but how come they all get away with it and yet one of our most important players gets a ban? Anyway rant over, good luck for the rest of the season boys.
It highlights the inconsistency from ref to ref, which is even more important. If they don't see it properly at the time they can include it in their refs report and if they think it's violent conduct then they get a ban subject to appeal. If they don't include it in their report or they say that it wasn't worthy of a straight red then the FA can't do anything and, sadly, it will take bigger managers than Martinez to complain if this system is going to be changed. Anyway, good luck with the rest of your season too. Is Cabaye going to miss your game against us, by the way?
