Published on Friday 6 January 2012 11:22 Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has insisted he has had no contact from Arsenal over versatile midfielder Kieran Richardson. Reports this week have suggested the former Manchester United man could be a January target for the Gunners, but the Black Cats are yet to receive any approach. O'Neill said: "Arsenal have not been in touch with me, I don't know anything about it. "I asked the chief executive as well and she said no, there hasn't been anybody in touch yet. "But what I have said is that I would keep players informed about what is happening. "Obviously, I don't want to rush players to leave the football club. I would rather think about stabilising things here, and hopefully we can try to progress from there. "But regardless of whether you are going to be doing business or not, you are going to be linked with players, clubs are going to be linked with some of our players, and at this minute we are hanging in there." O'Neill has studiously avoided revealing his own recruitment plans for this month, insisting on the day he was unveiled that a transfer kitty was never discussed during his talks with owner and chairman Ellis Short.
Obviously, I don't want to rush players to leave the football club. I would rather think about stabilising things here, and hopefully we can try to progress from there This makes you think he might let him go.
I'm sure we are going to get loads of speculation in the coming weeks, so I try not to believe any of it until it becomes official...
If the price is right mate any of our players will be sold...Our club is not in the financial position to be able to turn down 'silly money' for our players...
Let's just trust MON to do the right thing - he is a clever guy and knows what we need to improve our club. If it means sacrificing some players to buy then so be it, although hopefully KR stays as I think he has been playing well this season and a decent lad.
I may be in the minority, but I hope he stays. he plays wherever he is put, no moaning, nowt, not Pele , but he never said he was, and for sure `Hes better than any of us`.
Everey player has a price regardless of who they are and who they play for. I feel sure that MoN will have thoughts in his mind as to who he is prepared to loose and who he is not. I just hope to hell that Sess is one of the latter. If old saggy chops can keep Modric, then we should do the same with Sess.
Agree, and think his best position is the left wing. I was looking forward to him an McClean fighting it out for that position keeping both of them hungry.
