Wellens from Leicester, Moshni from Southend and a strong possibility that DJ Campbell will be coming ahead of the game on Saturday. This now makes a total of 9 loanees for the season with 2 of them Wellens and Higginbottom on 1 month deals! This is a shocking way to run a football club. We were promised that we wouldn't be over reliant on loans during the summer so all I will say is don't trust another bloody word these clueless idiots say! http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21585/leicesters-wellens-signs-on-loan
It's in terminal decline i'm afraid SD! This certainly isn't the great Ipswich Town Football Club that I started supporting back in 1973 thats for sure!
Other clubs are making ends meet by using their academy to bring players through to the first team. The old addage of 'if you're good enough then you're old enough' seems to have been forgotten at Ipswich. Instead we choose to sign everyone elses cast offs and let our academy players rot in the reserves until they've had enough and want to leave to further their career. Or maybe we just haven't had any good players come through the ranks lately. I'm sure if we had Raheem Sterling he wouldn't get a game.
Just think that Bobby Robson signed 14 players in 13 years because he believed in the ability of the home grown youth players coming through. He only signed quality players like Mariner, Muhren, Thjssen et al when we didn't have a player coming through. I know its a totally different game now to what it was back then but why cant we get back to basics and start being sensible with our youth policy and actually putting a coherent plan in place to deliver us a decent youth set up again? The way Hyam has been treated is appalling!
That's capitalism, I'm afraid. Youth players are brought up to the first team, made to look amazing, then sold for far more than they're worth, a la Cannae Whackem and Bandy Carroll. We then look for undervalued players elsewhere or players that just don't fit in to their own teams and try to get them on the cheap. At least that's the plan. Contrary to what that daft witch says, it IS all about the money money money. Of course, under communism, you get hungry young players, but that's mainly due to the fact that they're actually hungry. You also get supreme boxers like Ivan Drago, but that's another story. For now, we need to make do and mend. Patch up the old gal and see if we can get the tractor started. Adieu.
Can you name the 9 for me please ? I think someone isn't very good at maths. 1- N'Daw 2- Wellens 3- Higginbotham 4- Murphy 5- Luango Moshni hasn't arrived yet. Who are the other 3 loan players that you have included that are on our books? Be interested to know, as I'm sure Jewell would too.
Just a question. If we do get Campbell & Moshni as well as the above 5. That leaves us with 7 loan players. I am sure there is a rule about how many can be in the team/squad per game - I thought it was 4?? Of the 7 players (if they do all join) - who gets left out? i would guess Higginbotham, Campbell, Murphy & Wellens will be the 4 starters which would leave Luongo, N'Daw & Moshni out of the squad?
I doubt the coaching staff wants loans tbh. It must be a pain in the arse having to get your ideas across to players just for them to disappear 3 months later. I take it this is a further example of our cost cutting measures. The only 1 I think is sensible is the guy from Southend as its potentially a big step and we may aswell try before we buy.
not sure on the rule for who plays, that's a great point! So who are the other loanees I'm missing, seeing as we have 9?
The loan question is a strange one, last season we had players on loan that we didn't have a chance to sign permenent like stockdale. At least this season we are looking at loan deals where most could conclude into signing for the club permenent, and also we all know that the squad need improving now, so the only way to do that is by loans!
Guru, I see your point and can also agree where you are coming from but Higginbotham & Wellens are 1 month deals only. They dont seem to be loan before you buy options. If they were 3 month deals then it would take us through to the next transfer window and I would feel alot happier about the likelihood of them becoming town players.
Higginbotom has been told stoke won't stand in his way if he wants to move to us, don't really know the wellens situation. but the only other i can see that we wouldn't be able to buy is luongo.
The similarities to what is happening at your club now and what happened to us under Glenn Rodent is incredible. You boys should be very afraid, very afraid ...
I know Higginbotham wasnt in the Stoke 25 so is unable to play for them regardless but I dont understand the logic of only having 2 central defenders (Smith & Chambers) and then bringing in some guy on a 1 month loan. Unless we have a specific injury then I dont understand 1 month loans whatsoever. No matter how good you are you must spend at least the first week or 2 learning about tactic, how your team mates play and building up a relationship with everyone, then have 2 or 3 games where your comfortable in the system before buggering off. I havent heard much of Wellens recently but he was a very good player a couple of seasons back and I have nothing against him in general but we now appear to have 742 loan midfielders. I know we can say that Murphy is basically one of ours due to the length of time he has been here but I just cant see the bigger picture at the moment.
I can't work out the higginbottom length of loan granted, seems strange unless its a loophole so we can have him for the duration until January, because i believe the maximum length is 93 days which is longer than the loan window being open to the transfer window being open. thats the only logical reason, but then we are talking about ipswich so logic flys out the window!
Wellens is only here apparantly to get up to full fitness before he ****s off back to Leicester! I bet the message was "Come to Ipswich! We will rehabilitate you after your long injury lay off and don't worry, once we have you back to full fitnessd you can return back to your parent club!" ****ing joke!
JWM if you look at my topic titled UUUUUUUUURRRRRGGGGH there is a link to the offical Leicester website which says just that. Makes you sick doesnt it mate.
Just to clear up the numbers, if we get Moshni we will 7 loanees and FA rules state we can play up to 5 domestic loanees, so in effect all could play because Murphy and N'daw are classed as foreign.
