You're not forced to pay our wages! Ranger blasts Newcastle boo boys

Nile Ranger has criticised the Newcastle fans who booed during their side's home defeat against Reading.
The Toon have slumped this season and are firmly embroiled in a relegation battle, now just two points ahead of the Royals who are 18th.
Defeat to their drop zone rivals angered many supporters at St James' Park and they made themselves heard.

Manager Alan Pardew's decision to substitute midfielder Yohan Cabaye was met with jeers - although the Frenchman was injured.
But striker Ranger, who was an unused substitute, fired off a series of tweets on Saturday night.
He wrote: 'Certain fans need to not come and support the team... coming out to boo us... stay at home... don't need your boos... say no more!
'To all the fans. You are not forced to buy season tickets. Or pay our wages. Please remember that....
'If you are loyal fans... be with us... when we are out there on the field. Be the 12th man... Don't come and boo. That ain't going to help anyone.
'Team is going through rough patch... last thing we need is fans against us. #simplereally.
'We are team. You boo one player, you are booing all of us.'
Pardew said after the game: 'It's a painful day for Newcastle. In the first half we couldn't have played any better.

'You could see the extra quality we had on the pitch with Cabaye, and at that point you would like to think we were away from them.
'In the second half, we couldn't get a grip on the game. Reading bossed that period, and as well as we defended at times, we gave away two sloppy goals.
'We had to take Cabaye off because of an injury, and that caused an adverse reaction in the crowd, and the negativity spread to the team.
'That's where we are, we can't get away from that. We need to be able to play through it.'

    No Niall.

Pardew was booed because the camels back was finally broken.

You get booed cos you drag our club through the **** with your gangsta crap and criminal record.

He is only still here because of how tight Ashley is. If I were him I'd be wondering why defensive players are being brought on ahead of me when we need a goal. Or how **** must I be to be behind Shola Ameobi in the pecking order

This is unforgivable. I suspect he'll never put on a Newcastle shirt again.

He'll be shown the door for this by having his contract cancelled IMO.

<laugh> THIS! If Ranger had half a brain he might realise what you've just said for himself. Unfortunately, the lack of a brain has always been his trouble.

He has a point on this occasion.

But its too little to late for him and for the team.

He quotes we are a team and the 12 man..... which means that we should state our opinion and the facts are that the dross that the rest of the team have served up all season means that they have not done their job. We have done ours.... we support them and come week in and week out. It should be them that are asking questions about themselves not us.

Whereas I was embarrassed by the booing yesterday, quite where this chump gets off feeling he is in a position to criticize is beyond me! Galling for fans to hear even if I do agree about the booing.

Booing Pardew for every sub was crazy and really unhelpful. I just don't understand some fans at all. Marveaux had disappeared off the the face of the planet 2nd half, Cabaye was injured, what do they want? I'd have left Anita on mind.

There are a few players both past and present who l feel have earned the right to have posted comments about the fans and their reaction to our current woeful state. None of them are called Ranger, does this cretin not understand the hurt and humiliation felt by fans who watch on in despair at the sight of us belly up week after week.
This idiot is a disgrace and now after his arrogant comments has burned his last bridge as far as l am concerned.
Never mind Pardew out, Ranger needs to be shown the door, he is not fit a to wear the shirt, he has no idea what it means, none at all.

I felt uncomfortable about the booing, I don't like it at the best of times, (apart from the applause given to Guthrie yesterday, followed by a quick boo <laugh>), Pardew was being booed not the players, so it's been misinterpreted already.

Ranger is a brainless idiot, no manners, no class, and unlikely to achieve anything other than notoriety, perhaps he does these things to keep raising his profile, perfect fodder for reality tv.

I see Sammi has sided with him on Twitter ...

Gangsta needs his contract terminated immediately and Sammi needs loaning out on the same day.

Sammy needs to realise where his bread is buttered. I had high hopes for the lad and he's gone from promising to a lazy **** in my eyes.
Maybe he has been hanging with the Gangsta boys too much and he thinks he has made it or something.

It's only a certain portion of fans booing. A few thousand can make it sound loud.

And most of the other thousands that go to games in the modern era have never uttered a peep, in support or anger. The problem for Pardew and the team is that they've stifled most of the ones who sing, who've backed them all season through some serious lows, with awful, uninspiring performances. The voice of dissent is not to make the team play worse, but to wake them out of their current apathy. From that point of view, I absolutely feel they deserve and need it. Blindly clapping their ****ness no matter how few tosses they give is a bit pathetic, in my opinion.

As far as N R is concerned it was Pardew being booed and not the players.

Do agree though that the booing served no point at all and I can never understand it during a game. May be different afterwards although I don't; I just get extremely annoyed and go to the nearest pet shop to buy a cat.

On an unconnected point I can never understand those who leave the match before the end of the game either.

It was more than it usually was, and no one was booing the players, it was all aimed at the club itself. The **** transfer policy and Pardew are ****ing us over now.

No one was really booing the players. I personally never boo.

This! I've never understood this. My dad always tells about the first time he took my mam to watch NUFC. It took a lot of convincing for her to go and then they sat through 80 minutes of a boring, goalless match with my mam moaning all the way through. So they started making their way out of the ground to beat the crowd and missed the first of four, yes four, Toon goals. Serves them right.

I never boo either. I have sympathy with those who do it post game, they are frustrated. Yesterday though they were booing a manager for perfectly justifiable subs. That to me is crap on the part of the fans. The thing is I fear yesterday marked the beginning of the end for Pardew. I've seen it so many times from our fans. Once they get something in their head about a manager he just suffers week after week, whether he is doing good or bad.

The bloke who sat with yesterday was bewildered when they booed the Marveaux sub, commenting "He's done **** all this half, never came back out" I said then, each and every sub will be booed and will in every home game, I just think he's lost a portion of the support now. It takes an incredibly strong owner to stick by their man in the face of such criticism, I'm not sure Ashley has the stomach for it.

Pardew's not blameless but I still think he is severely hampered when you look at the bench. There is nothing to change a game. Sammy? Perch? Obertan? Bigi? Ranger? Taylor? They are some very bad options, particularly when you consider the games played recently by those on the pitch and Cabaye/Jonas short of matches. Its not an excuse because we played well enough first half to be out of sight, Cisse missing for fun again. The defending is absolutely shocking. Worst I've seen in many a year. While the whole back four have to look hard in the mirror (Santon particularly again), Pardew has to take his share for failing to organise them.

Booing players mid game has rarely ever in the history of football served to have a positive effect. I wish those who do could just keep it to the end of matches if they really want to have a go. You're hampering the team otherwise. As for leaving, why bother going?

I always boo... But I'm infantile and know it winds DT up, and I have an unbelievable and unfathomable need to piss her off (I think it's because she's cute because she's mad... I might just be evil though). Not a great chorus boo-er, I don't have the vocal range, I boo little ridiculous things like people tying their shoelaces and not scoring from 40 yards out. It'd be a bit like having an X factor contestant enter a singing competition...

Other people should know better, though! BOOOO to those people. BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! What penii they look. Boo is such a childish expression, I pity them really. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I must say, I like boo-ing refs and the teams that swap ends before kick-off. It's been one of the few pleasures this season.
