Hope there is some truth in this

TOTTENHAM’S Niko Kranjcar is the new target for Sunderland boss Steve Bruce as he attempts to add a winger to his squad before the big kick-off.

Bruce is also eyeing three players at Manchester City – wide men Adam Johnson and Shaun Wright-Phillips, plus striker Craig Bellamy, who can also operate on the wing.

Sunderland chief scout Bryan ‘Pop’ Robson watched England wingers Johnson and Wright- Phillips in Dublin last weekend.

But a move for Croatia star Kranjcar, 27 on Saturday, is also being considered and could be a loan.

Johnson would be Bruce’s ideal signing, but he is set to remain in Roberto Mancini’s plans – for the start of the season at least.

Bruce is searching for a man to operate mainly on the left and has agreed to sign Derry City’s James McClean, 22, for £300,000 – also watched by Robson in Dublin.

He would be Sunder- land’s 11th signing of the summer, but is viewed as one for the future.

In addition to Kranjcar, another Spurs player in demand is right-back Alan Hutton, on loan at the Stadium of Light two seasons ago.

But this time it is Fulham chasing the Scotland defender.

Would be a fantastic signing the lad is class and would certainly fill the left midfield spot. Has a touch of class about his play and is always capable of a goal or two as we found out last season at the SoL aswell as adding much needed creativity out on the left wing.

Even if its only a loan deal it would certainly be a signing to be excited about.

    Please...

Then they go and spoil it by adding this........All four good players, and would like any of them, but to mention them all in the same paper article is just mental. Seems like a column filling exercise to me.

    Any would do.......

would prefer Kranjcar, but for me Bellamy would do just as well left mid and forward would be both covered by his arrival. Not too keen on SWP but he'll add more than we currently have.

Johnson's just a bit unrealistic at the moment I think, so I wouldn't even consider him at the club.

Krancjar is the best we can possibly hope for. A class player that would slot in perfectly on the left side, not good enough for the top 4 or 5 clubs but would bolster our push for 7th or 8th place finish.

This is EXACTLY who we should be looking to bring in, would absolutely love this to be true. I do remember seeing somewhere that 'Arry wants something ridiculous like £10m+ for him though.

10m mil may be silly money but after what I saw yesterday we need the left side sorting at all costs

As a Spurs fan I don't want to see Niko leave the club but can understand his need for 1st team football.

He'd be a good signing for you.

Great player, I'd take him in a heartbeat if Barton goes. His position isn't one we need strengthening atm though.

In all dealings with 'arry and levy, I always got the impression that they held all the cards, and could ask for anything they wanted or hold out for ages just to take the piss, but with saggy chops not dipping his toe in the transfer pond yet and being told to sell before he can buy this may be an ideal chance for us to get our own back. Would love it if we do to them, what they do to us.

Would solve our problems on the left, and I think he would be up for it seems desperate to get away from spurs.

But this is spurs after all, they told Kiev they wanted 16 million for him.

So they will probs want 20 mill from us

one of todays papers mate not sure which one I just searched it on google news n it came up straight away

would be agreat signing only 26/27 and as people have said after a year of being stuck on the bench at Spurs and desperate for first team football I think he would fit in perfectly well with us. We are a club going in the right direction and the more better players we get the more chance we have of trying to finish in the 6th/7th/8th spots.

He would go straight into the side at left midfield I would imagine and like I said earlier everytime I watch him he seems to have a touch of class about his play, some players have it and some players don't and have to show commitment and determination to stay in this league but Kranjcar certainly has it, he would add creativity to the side and he pops up and scores some good goals from time to time.

I think if we can sign him great if not a year long loan would be a good move. I know Spurs only payed 2-3m for him but that doesn't mean they should sell him for that. If he played atleast 30games a season and showed what he can do I think he is worth around 9-10m in todays market if we can get him for 6-7m I think it would be a great deal for the club.

He'd be close to the perfect signing for us.

Better than Zog, better than SWP, and better than anyone we have at the club already.

    £8millions his money IMO.
