http://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/sport/9292304.Bull__Fans_need_to_be_realistic/ Of course as a player I think the man is fantastic and is probably the biggest reason we were promoted last season. I am not overly surprised we are struggling but am still disappointed with how we are playing mainly against the likes of Rochdale, Bury, Yeovil and Cheltenham in the JPT. However, I think Bully's comments are a bit stupid in that he asks where we thought we would be after 11 games as if fans shouldn't be disappointed and generally a bit downbeat with us being in the relegation zone. He then goes on to say that the above games are what will define us. We have lost all of these so how can he expect us not to be disappointed and a bit doom and gloom, if they are the games that are to define us?! Especially now last season's top scorer has gone out on loan and we have only 10 goals from 11 games (only two teams with worse goals scored!) I think players and staff need to be looking closer to home rather than commenting on supporters! Unfortunately I believe we will not stay up unless we address the goal scoring problem, which is not just a striker issue, the supposed great football that some people think we play just does not deliver.
I hope his comments have been misquoted, because as you say, they make no sense. We are in a mini league of 8 which includes 3 teams who have already beaten us and none that we've beaten (I don't think Orient should be included). That's relegation form however you look at it. He also said today was a must win, and despite Walsall looking like they'd never score we managed to find a way to throw away two points. I suppose a simple plea to the fans to stay behind the team wouldn't have been worth the column inches in the BFP. I think the real problem is that none of the players signed in the summer has really strengthened the team, at least not yet. What was the point of signing players who are no better than those we already had? It's not surprising the supporters are frustrated.
Neily I think you are spot on about the signings, a lot of squad players in my eyes with very little done to solve our weakest point, which is scoring goals regularly! It is something we have struggled with since John Gorman left. When we have finished quite high in the league it has been predominantly due to our ability to not concede too many goals!
the last time we had a proper goalscorer was mcgliesh. before then it was easter and mooney. before them it was tyson...i could go on! we always had a goalscoring striker but in the last few years it just hasent worked out that way. rendell scored 19 last season but im not counting penaltys for the perpose of this, i cant even remember who was suppose to score all our goals the year we went down, harrold and benyon did'nt work either. goalscoring is our main problem
