    Could read this two ways

    1) FFP actually being adhered to

    2) Nigel's been told that he has to demonstrate that he is the right man for the job before the cheque book comes out heavily

Personally I think both apply ... I think he has ten games to demonstrate that we are credible promotion candidates and will need at least 20 points from those games.

    3) They're delusional enough to believe we don't need to strengthen.

    Interesting article.

Do you think this is another reason we didnt' sack Pearson? What better manager could we have got who would happily come in with no transfer money to spend?

The comment below the article is a fair one...

This can't be right, Proud said that FFP rules wouldn't affect Leicester City at all, has he not told Nigel?

Definatly not this one, its not like our owners are tight with transfer budgets, and if they were not confident to give him new funds, then they would have sacked him.

You could be right ... but I don't think your logic necessarily follows, they could still be willing to spend but not necessarily under a manager that they are unconvinced about - personally I think that Knocky's last minute goal at Forest saved his neck ... and I still believe he has ten games etc

Again you have a selective memory

If the oweners choose to get around FFP they can. They probably feel they have invested enough and dont want to be making a loss of 30M again

I wonder if Nigel is getting frustrated by the restrictions.

Could we see the club look to cash in on someone? We know our best players like Wes Morgan, Andy King, Kasper Schmeichel and Anthony Knockaert wont be for sale but players like Ben Marshall and Jeff Schlupp might if we get a decent offer

we were not good enough last season, so no new additions means we will not be good enough this season. Im sick of "good" seasons. I want a great one that ends with us in the premier.

FFP was always going to affect us. We have a manager who will be able to reshape the club yet again as far as playing staff is concerned. I am not sufficiently blinkered to think that NP cannot do an excellent job in that. Having said that, I would not expect a promotion season this season without significant addition to squad and support staff. It is pretty clear that NP will be our manager at the start of the season, but I do believe he needs some help in some areas - maybe the new Director of Football can assist there - I dont know. It became clear that during our disastrous Feb and March that he hadnt a scooby on what had gone wrong or consequently how to change things. Maybe a DoF sitting in the stands can pinpoint something he cant looking glum on the touchline.
I like Proud, believe that we will have more loan signings this season - I just hope to **** he plays whoever comes in, in their natural position - and doesnt try to play a target man like Harry Kane on the wing.
At the moment, I see us nothing more than a mid-table side. If that is acceptable to the owners, whilst sorting out the financial side, then so be it.

For me - a well balanced summary.

Now we have a new director of football I expect a couple of moves for players - mostly on loan for the reasons above.

Hopefully the links created with Man U isnt going to be effected with Fergie leaving. Then hopefully we can get some players like Nick Powell, Michael Keane and a few others in on loan.

Wages wont be high and thats even if we have to cover them.

The 2 players that will cause us the most problems is Richie Wellens and Paul Gallagher. Both on high wages and can no longer contribute anything. At least with Neil Danns and Sean St. Ledger they can still offer us something so if we cant shift them we can them use them. Gally and Wellens both look a spent force

I agree. The owners have made their minds up to stick with Pearson, you don't then not bother supporting their man financially, that would just be setting him up to fail! Why potentially write off another season by doing this?

I don't believe he has ten games either (although any manager would be in trouble if we were bottom three after ten games). The best time to bring in a new manager is May/June. That time has gone so Top and co. need to have the courage of their convictions now.

I agree with Pearson on this: "This group of players got us into the play-offs last season. Another year together and they('ll) have learned a lot. We have some good, exciting young players here." I've said before I think we only need a couple of players, mainly to replace Kane and Keane. Yes our squad is smaller than I'd like, but I think that is going to be the way under FFP. Invest heavily in the first eleven and stick the young lads on the bench. It will happen at most clubs.

We have a very young core to our squad

Anthony Knockaert, Jeff Schlupp, Ben Marshall, Matty James, Ritchie De Laet, Andy King, Danny Drinkwater, Chris Wood and Liam Moore would have learnt alot last season and will only come back stronger for it. I dont get why people want to see change all the time

We are on the right tracks with Nigel and he will get us there. Our actual starting 11 with be one of the best in the league. A few loan to add strength in depth and we will be able to challenge again. After January everyone tipped us for 2nd. We havent all of a sudden became a bad side full of bad players. We just ran out of steam a little. Nigel wont make the same mistakes and the team wont make the same mistakes. Nigel is allowed to make mistakes and doesnt need people calling for his head every 5 minutes

    <ok>

We got in the playoffs last season with the side we have at the moment (bar Keane on loan) and that was with a terrible half season.

Pearson wont be given enough time for new players to "gel" and believes in the players we have, having all the same players playing for a second year gives Pearson no excuses after 12 or so games, personally i think that gives him the advantage, but he'd better kick off last season like he started the season before and not like it ended up.

On a positive side for the Pearson haters, if he doesn't buy anyone, and he does get fired, we will have some free money in January <ok>

Well put it this way. If we had a game tommorow we could put out

Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan, St. Ledger, Konchesky, Marshall, James, King, Knockaert, Wood, Nugent

That for a starting line up is more then good enough to get us at least play offs. Even if we didnt have FFP restictions I wouldnt of wanted us to sign 10 players. 4-5 players will be more then enough.

The only position we NEED is a partner for Wes.

The position that we WANT to strengthen at left back, centre midfield and a striker

So thats 4 players there and thats presuming the 7 on the list leave which I dont think they all will

I dont hate NP - I think he has a lot of very good attributes. I just dont think that he is the man, not only to get us promoted, but to challenge for top half of the Prem. Hope he proves me wrong

I would worry about that when we get there. When we get promoted our first goal has to be to finish at least 17th
