http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/won-t-rule-signings-new-year/story-20093603-detail/story.html ... where would you like to see some 'strengthening' ...?
A striker and winger should be top priorities If we still going how we are the owners might be prepared to spend a decent amount
So lets throw some names out who would people like to see sign? Going down the Leagues you have Nakhi Wells doing well for Bradford, Callum Wilson has broke through at Coventry this season and he is the joint top scorer in League 1. We tried to sign Kevin Doyle in January so could Nigel return for him? All championship strikers will cost decent money and probably wont get a decent price for any of them In the Premier League Nicky Maynard who Sven chased isnt getting much game time at Cardiff, he is proven in this league and Matty Fryatt will be available in January so Nigel could be interested in bring him back. Or could Nigel use the loan market for one of the kids from the bigger clubs Also Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is still without a club after breaking his leg at the back end of last season.
I would look at Callum Wilson at Cov or Nakhi Wells. I cant see Cov being able to put up much of a fight finacially. So around 1-1.5M should do it and I reckon Wells would cost around 1M
Austin at Leeds - would personally break the bank for him. Right wing - would see how much Will Buckley would cost. Dont see any strikers that would offer something we dont have. We need a bit of magic from Walshy on this one, but i would be interested to see how Knocky and Vardy would play together as a 2 up front.
Any of these tbh http://talksport.com/football/revealed-best-free-agents-left-market-13090358469 but would also like to see us sign another fullback, backup goalkeeper and winger. For fullback - Kyle Naughton on loan as I don't think he is doing much at Spurs. For goalkeeper - Marton Fulop is a free agent and recovered from surgery. For winger - Giles Barnes is playing in MLS and was good back in the day and David Bentley is still a free agent.
I cant see us signing a full back. Now Ritchie De Laet is back. Naughton would be very expensive for a right back in this league. He wont want to drop out of the prem either and he is in and out of the Spurs team now Why would Fulop sign knowing full well he wont get a game? There is nothing wrong with Logan as back up. Should anything ever happen to Kasper Schmeichel we will just go into the loan market Giles Barnes is an interesting one as when he first broke through at Derby he looked really good but he has massively faded since, whether Nigel thinks his character would blend in is another question and Bentley I wouldnt touch with a barge pole
I thought Bentley was at QPR? Is it fair to assume that a player of his type is quite probably at QPR? Agree that we need a winger and a striker, how about Antonio from Sheffield Wednesday? Should have signed Adomah while we had the opportunity, he's doing great at Middlesbrough and he's always looked dangerous when I've seen him. Now that Forest have pulled out of Bakary Sako deal, is that one we should potentially go for? Or maybe a more experienced winger, someone like Chris Brunt?
Will Buckley has always impressed me and everytime the football League show is on Paddy McCourt is always impressive.
We'd be fine with Moore and Konckeskey, both defensively minded fullbacks. It's not like whoever plays behind Knockaert gets over run every game.
What happens in January could depend on the exit door aswell Neil Danns, Paul Gallagher and Martyn Waghorn are all out on loan but return in January, their loan clubs want to sign them Zak Whitbread also returns from Derby plus we are trying to get rid of Sean St. Ledger For me though I would rather get Schmeichel, Morgan, Nugent and Dyer on new contracts then sign some players
Sakho is more than a winger ... the guy has genuine class and could be used as a striker as well as a wide option ...
King and Drinkwater have to cover Knockaert at times. He is getting better off the ball but still has alot to learn Sako would be too expensive anyway and Wolves would be very reluctant to sell
