Unbelievable news story where Saints have sacked Adkins and instantly replaced him with an Argentine manager who formerly managed Espanyol

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21079956

Whether this Mauricio Pochettino turns out to be a good manager or not, it is disgusting that Adkins is given the push having taken the club up with successive promotions and giving them a fighting chance of staying in the Premier league. I genuinely don't know what more the guy could have done to help the club and now he is looking for work (although I doubt he'll be out of work for long)

I must say however much we moan about Evans and Clegg at least our Managers have every possibility to destroy their managerial career and only give them the push when the situation is well and truly past the point of no return and not look to 'change the furniture' on a regular basis and today only highlights how mad football really is!

Adkins is 10/1 on to be the next Blackpool manager, I wish him every success! I offer my condolences to Saints fans, their owners are likely to be the cause of many problems!

I totally agree, disgraceful decision. If they were to sack him, they should've done it earlier in the season when they were getting thrashed left right n centre. But to sack him now, after guiding them out of the relegation, and only two weeks from the transfer window closing, is a shocking decision, and one that i feel will come back to haunt the management team of Southampton.
As you rightly said KOPR, he won't be out of a job for too long, well, maybe til the end of the season when he'll be able to choose his job.

Unbelievable, you'd think that clubs would learn but every year it seems to get worse, even the Championship is like it now!!

Have to say Southampton do generally seem to appoint good managers so we'll have to wait and see what this guy is like but can't help but think this is them getting beyond their station too quickly!! I've been fairly surprised by them this season tbh, I thought they'd do better than they have but too me they've spent too much too soon, when they should've kept together what they've got and just slowly add to it. I think it's obvious to us when you suddenly start signing big name players into a good group it can upset the apple cart!!

I'd definitely like to see him at Ipswich but I'm not sure he would have been able to turn our season around as McCarthy has, we needed to get back to basics. Adkins likes an open expansive game and i'm not sure we would've got results from that to survive!!

He is only averaging 1 point per game, but you would have thought with his history they would cut him a bit of slack! I imagine he will still have a great reputation from the Southampton fans and should get teams lining up to take him.

Adkins is a manager that over time can build a good side much in the vain of Lambert Imo Southampton should have looked to the future rather than worrying about now IMO

It's disgusting they have done this. Adkins has worked wonders there. I work with a saints fan and he was shocked/disappointed/p!@;?d off with cortese. So we should be thankful in one respect we don't have owners who are quick to give the Spanish archer.

great manager and a stupid decision. Just wish they had made the decision a year ago and we could of potentially taken him before he got Soton into the premier league. He was my choice of manager when we got rid of Keane.
    Hope they get stuffed tonight!
