Okay, I really don't want to fall into the habit of criticising Millens every move, or slating everything that comes out of his mouth, but come on Keith? After losing a game on the back of yet more atrocious defending, and not creating enough goalscoring chances YET AGAIN, Millen wants to highlight a change in the penalty taker? I'm sorry, but it's not a priority, and when asked the question "Will you stick with Nicky on penalties in future matches?" his answer should have been short and to the point "It's an internal matter. Football goes that way sometimes, sometimes you score, sometimes you don't. Nicky Maynard is a very competent footballer, so much so Premiership clubs are willing to pay good money for him. If he is confident to take them, I will stick by my decision when I original selected him as our penalty taker." END OF!!!!! We won't be benching Jamo for letting in a goal or two, you can't mess with a strikers confidence by threatening to take away his opportunity to score goals for the team. Instead of telling us what you THINK you want everyone to hear, show some faith in your star player thats so far kept your job for you before the whole team turns their back on you. Because if it wasn't for Nicky Maynard in the second half of last season and scoring 3 this year, you would have got the boot by now.
Give Lewis Carey a chance in goal. Can't do any worse and he is probably on under £1k a week compared to James on £20k a week
I agree with this, if his confidence was lowered by playing up front on his own (as it clearly appeared to be!) then this latest bit of blame wont be helping anybody! Strikers need goals and will always look to take the pens.
In all fairness, every Bristol City fan who went to the Leeds game this weekend should be ashamed they DIDN'T score that penalty, I mean helping put the ball in the back of the net in a penalty situation for the team you support is your job! Thats why we were reserved the number 12! Not all the blame can be put on Maynard, you lot should take your share of the blame too!
