Just seen that Wigan have had a bid for Nicky Maynard accepted.Anyone think this was one we could have brought in ourselves?
I was just going to post a similar thread, £2.2 million would be a bargain if he starts knocking them in. He's certainly one of the most skilful strikers outside the PL and one I'd like to have seen us go for...
Not sure what his current form is like but he was on fire a couple of seasons ago. May be we should have looked this way rather than wasting time in Brazil.
Sorry guys but you clearly haven't learnt the Not606 QPR Forum ethos: no player is good enough for us.
Players like maynard, Rhodes etc. might sound like a good punt to you and me, but TF & Co. ain't gonna sign players they haven't heard of. It's about impressing his mates. Either we get a big name or a player who comes from a big club.
Still think he would be good for us. They had slapped a £6 mill price tag on him so £2mill would be worth it.
personally, both Maynard and Rhodes would be good buys, but both would cost money and I would expect (or like) both to get 4 year deals. If we do sign a "big name player", thenhopefullyhe will help the other two strikers develop, however, I dn't have he purse strings. Still a few days left to get a deal...only got to think of Danny Graham to know that there are players in other divisions that might just prove to be bargains
Well Helguson, Holt, Morrison, Long and Graham have 36 goals between them in their first season(except Helguson) in the prem. Just proves that a punt for either Maynard or Rhodes could me a smart move. Expecially at the price mentioned for Maynard.
