Reading all the local forums it's seems there is a ground swell of opinion in great favour of giving Nicky Hunt a second chance. It seems he has been very professional with his attitude and approach to training, asking for advice and help with his weaknesses, studying all DVD's available and there is quite a few fans who say he has been one of our better players in pre-eason games. If he is as good and as committed as people say and considering he is a top earner at the club, surely, it would be a good idea to let him gain some confidence and prove himself.Others such as Woolford and Stewart have had poor games and have had more games afterwards regardless. With the defence in need of new faces, maybe he could be the answer.. http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/137601-nicky-hunt/
To be fair to Nicky Hunt he had that ankle injury pre-season, and never really looked fit after that. I think we should give him a chance.
Is this the last year of his contract? I'm not sure but if it is then a bit of coincidence that suddenly he starts to play again. I maybe wrong and am happy to be corrected
I will tell you what to be nice to you we will take Maynard off you and even Nicky Hunt and stick him in our reserves. That way we got our striker and you get rid of an idiot and have a load of money
Proud fox - I hope and pray you fall flat on your face this season as i do believe you are being disrespectful & come to think of it you are very short on decent strikers at present, no good creating chances if you have no one to put them away
This is a football forum said how is it disrespectful Nugent, Gallagher and King will bang in goals for now. Sven will get his man
you wont get maynards as he would of come to you and from what ive heard come out of the mans mouth himself and what been said on here it look like hes set to sign within the next 2 weeks seems to be stalling atm for a release clause on his new contract from what ive heard we want a 10million relase clause but nicky is affraid that will scare a prem team away and wants to settle for an 8 million RC
Hunt is soaking up wages and we are struggling at the back. If he fails to feature now then he has basically come to the end of his career. I wouldn't NOT play him if we needed a defender, so I suppose I am reluctantly saying play him - we are not exactly spoilt for choice are we!
I thought that Nicky Hunt was one of the worst players I'd ever seen in a City shirt early last season, and never came close to justifying big wages. That said, we're hardly spoilt for choice, he has to be a better player than the one I saw, based on previous form and if he could get it anywere near right it could be like having a new signing at the back......well I can hope!
'With the defence in need of new faces, maybe he could be the answer..' Never never in a million years. You're all clutching at straws because the idiot Millen can't persuade a decent defender to join.
I'd agree 100% Redprintt if I thought what I saw of Hunt last season was as good as it gets. Surely there's more to come from him than that. We can't sell him so if he's showing anything at all we could play him.......take him some stormers to win the fans over mind you
Sounds like your Nicky Hunt is your version of our Robbie Ryan. He played in an FA Cup final you know!
Nicky Hunt clearly had talent and ability and for whatever reason his career stalled after Alerdyce left Bolton. If he can get his head right, his body will follow, and there is a chance he could be a decent Championship player. You would like to think if he cant go away at the end of last year and come back ready to prove himself in pre season this time around then he is done as a footballer. As far as I know Hunt's contract is up at the end of this year, and he is in our top 5 earners. It could be worse Jimmy Bullard has been doing the same to Hull for a few years and still has two years to run. He gives them nothing on the pitch and collects a couple of hundred grand a week. Nice work if you can get it.
I think he deserves a second chance, simply because we've got no one better to replace him. Regardless, why the **** haven't we signed Jonathan Spector?! He's free, he's an American international, he was good last year for West Ham in the Premier League and he's at the peak of his career. If we don't put in a bid for him he'll only end up playing somewhere like Turkey.
I cant help but notcie EnderMB that you push for signing a lot of players who have a history of failure, this is not the only thing they have in commen though, they also have stellar careers if you buy them young on Football Manager circa 2005-2008. I am interested to know if I am barking up the wrong tree or if you are indeed a brother that has spent many an hour staring at the flashy lights of a virtual game going on?
