Manchester United's Nick Powell a transfer target for Swansea as Moyes clear-out looms

He's only 20 and has scored a staggering 14 goals for wigan this season and can play midfield or striker! Would be an amazing signing for the 5 million being mentioned!

    Caught offside:

Liberty Stadium side plan Old Trafford raid.

Swansea City will look to tempt Man United into selling youngster Nick Powell with an opening offer of £5m for the midfielder according to the Sunday Mirror.

The 20 year old has greatly aided the Latics push for a return to the Premier League as well as impressing in their FA Cup run and will certainly have had watching scouts sitting up and taking notice.

Powell is Wigan Athletic’s top scorer this term having scored 14 goals in all competitions and this source believes he would fit the style of play adopted by Swansea City.

Liberty Stadium boss Garry Monk will hope to keep his side in the top tier and if he does then he may well be rewarded with a decent transfer fund boost and may then have to consider upping this £5m offer to have a real chance of securing an England Under 21 international who has the potential to be a big star.

Norwich City, Hull City and Stoke City are all said to be keen on Powell, who moved to Man United from Crewe Alexandra back in July 2012 a move that is said to have cost the Old Trafford club £6m.

We should sign him up for that price.

    Need defenders first I think.

Rangel, it's apparent he's lost any pace he had. This season he's struggled to get up and down the field and his distribution has been poor too.

Chico, gone in the summer IMO, he and Monk aren't o the same page. A total contrast of personalities: Monk, intense, driven and serious, Chico; maverick, fashion model, pop icon, and well, lets be polite and say his driveway doesn't quite reach the road.

Ash to Liverpool?? Brendon loves him and he's way better than anything the Pool currently have. Will he leave Monk, if the money's right he's gone.

Davies on Everton and Liverpool's radar along with Taylor (also Spurs for Taylor).

Midfield looks safe and settled to me and IMO no one's going anywhere, including Michu. He's just back from a serious injury and long term recovery after surgery so he's not as an attractive prospect to other clubs especially at the price we'd want.

Bony, not sure. I'd love him to stay, he's a hero here already. I think he will stay if we up his contract.

I'm a bit suspect about spending £5M on a striker who scores 14 in all competitions combined at a Championship level club.

    Isn't he a midfielder?

Stumpy, looks like we'll need to buy a whole defence next year. Bit extreme but agree that we need to strengthen

Don't think we will spend 5 million on any player this summer . Dyer is on the Southampton radar apparently also.Hope we can lure Chico to stay but also have my doubts. If I didn't know any better , I'd say Huw and the board want to build a very strong Championship team that has a bit of a chance to stay up but is ready for Championship under Monk in the 2015-2016 season without spending big this summer

Roof, I hope that Jenkins and the board don't have any such thoughts. We don't want ANY pessimistic thoughts about the Championship. Stay up this season and I'll regard us as a bona fide Premier League team and I fervently hope that the money we will earn (in excess of £60 million) will be used wisely to secure our status as such for the foreseeable future.

Jenkins will never let himself get caught having to spend 30 million on Bony , Shelvey , Pablo and Ki again for a "big name "manager just to watch us fight to stay up , it left a bad taste .The board will pick a manager from here they can control somewhat. My theory is Monk will be made the "right hand man " this summer till we go down then become manager again in the Championship . Not saying we won't stay up another season or so , we just won't spend big. Just my view ivor, nothing to do with pessimism.

£5 million should be enough for Caulker if Cardiff go down. That signing would solve a lit our defensive vulnerabilities. Anybody know if Bartley is fit yet? He done well at Birmingham and looked very good until his injury at Everton.

I've seen that Brendan wants him. Won't be surprised by that move.

He is on £55k per week at Cardiff so however cheap we could sign him for we wont pay those sort of wages

I don't see Caulker as an improvement on what we already have.
Plus his attitude stinks (meet him under professional circumstances)
