REPORT IN THE DAILY MIRROR Nick was ordered not to pick certain stars before cash bust up. also told not to select players whose apperance clauses would involve pay rises these included Olofinjana,Harper,Mcshane, Simpson who were loaned out.
Well that doesnt sound like lazy, made up journalism. From such a respected tome too, who'da thought.
This - 100%. It is hardly news at all, every single one of us knew that was why Oli wasnt being picked and instead loaned to Cardiff and every single club does it. I remember Ron Atkinson publicly saying he wasnt picking Leigh Jenkinson despite wanting to cos it meant another payment to us as part of the deal. As Ive said previously, the Mirror get by far the best scoops on us and this pro Adam / Nick story confirms that it is that one of them, or someone on their side, is feeding the stories.
If Nick or Adam were feeding the press, then they'd be releasing far more damaging stories than this one.
Maybe Nick is above that sort of thing as his heart seems to be in the club but I wish Adam Pearson would.
I don't know, I've noticed it with a few people now, we keep getting "null" when people try to quote as well. I'll ask about it. The players on the high wages have been getting loaned out because we want to offload them permanently due to them using up the wages of 2 or 3 other players. I don't think there's any mystery there. Simpson I don't think it'll be a wage rise that's the issue. We signed him on a performance related deal where we only paid about 10% of the transfer fee up front so he might not be playing due to being close to triggering another installment. And to be honest if he wants to leave and that's the case then why should we pay another couple of hundred thousand for him when it's not going to increase what we get for him. Of course his lack of interest in the reserves could be because he knows he's not going to play anyway because of the clause, rather than being the reason the Allams don't want him to play (chicken and egg?). Harper isn't playing because he's not as good as 3 or 4 other midfielders. If he was good enough he'd have been loaned to a Championship club who could have paid more towards his wages, or just given to them. (The fact he's on loan til the end of his contract rather than given away says to me Wycombe didn't want to pay his full wages)
