Nick, I replied a while back to a thread you started about Vettel dominating this season, saying you were talking bolloxs etc.

You were right, I was wrong and I apologise.

I honestly cannot see either McLaren or Ferrari getting on equal terms with RBR this season now. They may get closer as the season progresses but am now of the opinion that barring injury, Vettel will be WDC again.Much as I would like to see Hamilton and Alonso battling it out with Vettel I don't see it happening.

Kudos to Vettel and RBR, I'ts hard to fault them atm.

Am sure there are others (like myself) who would love to see all 3 teams more closely matched so we could enjoy a 6 way title fight but I think that is asking too much !

Well done. We all want opinions without abuse. We should admit when we get it wrong. Result is an informative, interesting - sometimes fun site.

I'm sure McLaren and Ferrari will catch RBR but whether that's this season or next or in four years' time remains to be seen. You do have to admire their achievement - not just in designing the ultimate pole position/lights-to-flag machine but also the ridiculously short time it's taken them not just to luck into a WCC/WDC season but win it on merit and remain at the very top of the sport thereafter.

Failing a sustained challenge from Ferrari or McLaren I think it will be immensely disappointing if Webber is prevented from taking the fight to Vettel, whether on contractual grounds, not being given the new parts that Vettel gets, or the old "what strategy are they running?" internal mind games.

How a team manages itself is up to the team but when they find themselves with a dominant car then I believe the suppression of competition within the team is bad and in those circumstances I'd agree with Brundle's assessment of it as "miserable".

Haha, every time Vettel dominates a race it makes me think of Nick's thread and how nobody agreed with it. I don't think Vettel will be completely dominant though, although his start has only strengthened my belief that he will win the championship this year. I think the McLaren has plenty of potential to be unlocked, and Mercedes will win races. You can never right off Ferrari either, and Alonso looks seriously quick in race trim.

Why is everyone saying he will dominate? This happened with Alonso and Button in their last win of championships. They get a big lead and then they get caught from their car getting weaker compared to their rivals. This will happen again or atleast I hope so. Alonso chasing down Vettel for the championship, that would be great to see. I hope his car gets some reliability problems though.

Eventually Bernie will whisper in ears along the lines of ' if you lost form for a few races the title would go to the wire, and we would all make a lot more money' .

    Waddya mean I'm SOOOO cynical!

I was a bit premature making that prediction so you were entitled to your opinion, I can't remember what exactly I wrote but I remember I made a Mansell reference which was probably a bit misjudged (going on the year when Mansell ran away with it). Apology accepted anyhow, I'm hoping that things even out in any case even if it's looking a bit unlikely at the moment.

althugyh I thought at the start Vettel would probably win it, when i saw the new McLaren I wasn't sure. They will be rolling out a flexi-wing shortly, and sooner or later they will work out all it's creases. Most teams are still using a lot of their previous technology and design, whereas McLaren have started from scratch.

as Cosicove has said, very magnanimus, I too am magnanimous in defeat, sadly I never get to prove it though as I'm always right :D
