Overall I've been disappointed with the results of the pre season friendlies. Its not as if we've been playing great teams. I know pre season games are all about trying out the players and systems but, especially when playing lower league opposition, its nice to demonstrate some dominance and get a few wins under our belt. However, todays win against Palace has come at a good time, just a week before we start our premiership campaign. And it sounds as if the new boys put in a good shift. Not intending to disrespect Stoke but, if we are to have a successful return to the premiership, they are the standard of team we need to be able to beat, especially at home. Looking forward to next week, although with some trepidation.
Steady first half with improvement in the second. Guthrie oozed class. Pinging 40 yard diagonals right onto a team mates boot. Alfie looked sharp, Pavel was strong and skillfull and McCleary looked quick and confident. Bring on those Stokies!
