Nice to see room for humanity and compassion in the modern game - as well as all the megabucks. Top marks to Spurs for making this happen http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/21/make-...t-for-seattle-sounders-against-spurs-4805067/
It is a shame that more of these stories don't come to light instead of the ' overpaid moron ' stories we get in the tabloids. There is a City player who lives just down the road from us - I don't know him very well but Mrs1950 is friendly with his wife. A couple of houses up from him is a very disabled lad who is not interested in football but is mad about cars. As you will appreciate, the footballer does not drive a Morris Minor and every time he has to go out on an errand he takes the boy and his Dad with him. If another City player turns up with a different high class car they can inevitably be persuaded to give the boy a journey. A small thing but just proves that despite their wealth and status they are also nice human beings.
NCFC is pretty good with this community stuff. Hasn't Darren Eadie helped organise 'legends' matches where mentally handicapped kids get involved - Sporting Light appeal, or similar. I guess we only get to hear and read about that because it's so local, nice to see it happening on a wider scale
saw this earlier - lovely gesture. looks like the lad had an absolutely smashing time. nice to see things like this
