Must be annoying to be left out of match day squad, though. Didn't Tan withdraw the promised amount last time they gained promotion (which led to players refusing to let him in dressing room, and ultimately led to McKay's sacking....)
There certainly was something about Tan withdrawing incentive payments back then but have no idea whether it contributed to Mackay's sacking. Mackay brought that on himself and didn't need any help from others. Only an opinion of course.
Players just were't interested after that. They were doing OK up 'till then (Newcastle away I think). Not saying it caused Mckays sacking just saying that is when the rot set in.
I'm sure there was fault on both sides and a lot of it was down to Tan's total lack of understanding of the game. I've no recollection of the actual timings of the divide between Tan and Mackay but Mackay's contempt for Tan was clearly shown long before that. It was obvious when he refused to shake Tan's hand after that brilliant win against Man City at the CCS, and that was only the 2nd game of our season up there. Not going to open this jar of worms again though - let's all go forward.
Nice if you can get it as said previously, but Masky can’t help but feel it’s killing the game. In many cases the entrance fee is beyond the means of a father and two kids! So much more to spend hard earned money on! Remember that Robbie Savage disclosing that in the Premier League in particular players seem to have no idea how much fans paid to go to games...and weren’t bothered either! Just look at the mug of Pogba earning fantastic money...beyond our wildest dreams in most cases...but he wears a face like a smacked arse! Good luck to city, but it won’t be at my cost! He did not withdraw a promise, this was when we were religated the players were not happy will there share for coming last. Malky was already sacked and some players were still doing his dirty work, not long after Tan brought Slade in and he got rid of the lot of them.
