Can't remember where i read it, either the Echo or the SAFC website but it was basically Steve Bruce telling us how we managed to get Muntari in on loan with an option to buy on drastically reduced wages. What a fantastic job these 2 guys have done for our beloved club, not only have they managed to get us 2 superb quality players in but due to their persuasive powers and the esteme that the club is held in these days, they've also managed to get them toi reduce their wage demands to play for us. Fantastic lads, just fantastic. I suppose with Ellis Short on board we could maybe have done a City or a Liverpool and threw silly money at players only to find that later down the line we would have had huge debt issues. As it is, we look to be performing on a sensible business platform that the likes of Fat Ashley must be so envious of. I suppose the club are giving us fans what we want to see, a quality team on the pitch and a quality management structure within the club. SAFC is in good hands my fellow Mackems and i think it's our turn to show the Club our faith and turn out in numbers to give our support. Haway the lads!!!!!
Be nice if they have a purchase price in place to buy Muntari at the end of the season. Saying that, it's a nice way to do business, as if he isn't the player we all know he should, be in the Prem, (God forbid! ) the only loss is wages.
I think that when you see the carnage and mayhem that goes on around us, I mean, it's almost a daily occurance up the road where there's something going on and usually not in a positive way. I don't think we could ever forget just what we have in place at Sunderland AFC. I'll be honest, I was absolutely gutted to see Keano walk out, he was and to a degree will always be a legend in my eyes, mostly for his playing days but also for giving us a lift when we needed it. But, Niall and the team had other plans in place for his successor and what a successor he turned out to be. He took a gamble bringing in a Geordie and i dare say many hearts sank when they heard the news ( mine never) but i never envisaged what would happen in such a short space of time, from fighting off relegation on the last day of the season to pushing for a spot in Europe. AND, with a far superior squad and the club is still on an even keel in terms of finances as well so my hat is off to Sir Niall and his backroom team. Can you just imagine if we were to qualify for Europe and the club did increase the capacity? i'm getting carried away now, i know.
win win situation if he wants to stay and we like him price is sorted should of been like that for hutton
Usually the Africans are pretty consistent so i can only see him being a success just like Mensah but without the injuries.
I was amazed to hear of Muntari's acceptance of a significant drop in wages. I am happy to to bury my head in the sand and take it at face value but some day I would like to hear him explain why he did it. And I hope he does not change his mind! Brucey appears to be a far better manager than I realised. Maybe that's only because we are observing him very closely these days. His transfer market moves, in and out, are very satisfactory. Not saying he is a tectical genius but he seems to be getting it right more often than not with fewer baffling substitutions for example. Quinny and Steve Walton are very grounded. They seem to be watchful of costs and good negotiators, not that I know anything about what goes on in transfer dealings. I hope Ellis Short appreciates what a fine management team he has looking after his investment. BTW, where is Steve Walton from? I don't know much about him TBH. Maybe I should just go and Google him. Edit: Seaburn. A bit of background. You probably knew it all anyhow.
Muntari wants to play every week and here is a chance for him to make a difference to a club that is challenging for Europe. Do well and he gets a nice contract out of it or he moves to another PL club. If he doesn't do so well then he's back to Milan where he clearly isn't happy.
That is an excellent article on Steve Walton. Interesting to read he was a fellow scientist before embarking on his financial career. Seems like a top bloke - we are lucky to have him.
Even in the darkest of dark days (and God knows there have been plenty of them) my love of Sunderland AFC never wained. It was sometimes difficult to justify the endless away games throughout the 80's and 90's, to watch a shower of ****e get thumped week in week out but we did it. I love everything about SAFC. Always have and always will. I never take for granted that the bad times will last forever nor the good times be here as long either but along the way I''ll have my 10 penneth worth of opinion and give my heart to the cause every week. There is no alternative to being a Sunderland fan. Its what I am and what I was born to be.
Agreed. These two need the recognisition on the stands. Maybe a song for them 2night? Has got a really good feeling about this club now and I think of we can wrap up the loan signings and get in the top class striker we are after and I think we will be in a really good position next year to build even further
