I know that quinny has been interviewed and has said he does not want the south stand to be named after him!Well im one here calling for short to ignore him......what else would you expect the big fells to say! Quinny was a magnificent servant of the club i love as a player coach and chairman and has saved this club from possible oblivion on two occasions and he deserves recognition for his achievements and we as supporters deserve the right and opportunity to pay respect to the man in any way we can ,so by persuading the powers that be to ignore his modesty and name the south stand after him is the least we can do..........I would also say to quinny if he was reading this that he should know what sunderland supporters are like , we are loyal, honest and filled with pride in ourselves and in his achievements...........it is also this pride that makes us want to repay our debts to th big fella....so that in 30 years time he will not be just a historical past player only talked about by the old fogies but a ever present figure mentioned at every home game when some burley centre forward wearing the mighty red and white stripes scores a magnificent goal at the Nial Quinn end of the stadium of light.
Completely agree, possibly the only time I would ignore or disagree with something Quinn said. I wouldn't just stop with naming the south stand after him, id have a nice big shiny statue outside too. Having moved my seat next year to the south stand I hope im officially in the Niall Quinn stand.
