    Afternoon Chaps

Was just wondering what are people's opinions on firstly a deal for us to get Sturridge in return for Meireles and cash?

Personally I think Sturridge would do very well, but the Arsenal game did perhaps show what Meireles brings to the table.

Would you take Cahill in exhange for N'gog and and cash? If so how much?

Personally i'd be happy with N'gog being valued at £4 million, and perhaps £8 million in cash.

    Thoughts?

If Aqua's leaving I'd keep Meireles, unless he really wants to leave. He wasn't chuffed about his non-pay rise so his wage can't be a problem.

All the noises seem to say N'Gog won't be a makeweight. I presume that's because we'll get a better deal selling him independently and paying for what we need.

I'd go for your N'Gog and cash for Cahill idea.

I'm not too keen on losing Meireles... and whereas Sturridge is a decentish striker who wouldn't mind being behind Carroll, Suarez and Kuyt in the pecking order I'd rather someone a little better (if it meant giving up Meireles).

Is Sturridge any better than N'Gog? He's Englisher I suppose.

Humm, I agree but i'm not convinced we would get more than 6 for N'gog. I'd do our upmost to sell him if it meant Cahill arrived.

Na he's miles better than N'gog mate. He would be a better out and out finisher than Kuyt and Andy C too.

aquilani good as gone it seems from the impirical evidence (not appearing) so meireles must stay end of story.

n'gog going is a good thing, also need a replacement.

if we get a player in the last 12 months of his deal for good value fine. cahill should never cost 15mil, never at 12 months to go... end of.

If it meant that overall we kept Aquilani, and used our resources to sign a centre-back which I still think we might seeing as Soto has left the club. Then why not. There is something going on behind the scenes regarding Mereiles as some reports suggest that he gestured to the bench after Liverpool scored the second goal, a goal he was involved in the creation. It was either that or the o.g. it was one or the other.
    There is something going on.

Sturridge is a good player but if he's a target then just buy him, we need Mereiles.

N'Gog as part of the Cahill deal would be good, I know MFG thinks he will improve but if it keeps the cost down then I think it would be a good deal.

Aqualani is gonna go,he doesn't want to be here and as talented as he is we don't want another Torres situation.
Sturridge I do rate but not really at the expense of Mereilles.
N'gog p/ex for Cahill...yes please and I don't care what we pay as its not my money and the owners of Liverpool have far more money than me.In fact i don't really know why we bother what we pay.if kenny and Fsg feel they are worth it then let them pay whatever it takes.I mean does it really matter if we pay £8 mill + Ngog or £10 mill + N'gog .....!

There are a few reasons to care.

    1) No matter how wealthy Mr. Henry is- there is a limit to how much he will spend.
    2) If they spend extra-ordinarily on one player it might impact how much they will spend in subsequent transfer windows.
    3) "The Chelsea effect", if other clubs know they can rip you off- they'll continue trying to rip you off, even if you no longer have the money to spend.
    4) UEFA, balancing budgets, and being inelligable for Champions League.
    5) It ultimately is (or was) YOUR money if you buy a shirt, an e-ticket, or go to a game, or even watch it on TV (ad money or TV License fee share). You want Herny spending your money wisely don't you?

Well as he is head of a very big organisation in FSG then I would expect him to have enough financial nouse to work out what a player is worth and not spend extra-ordinary sums on 1 player at the risk of limiting further transfer options.
If it was my missus holding the purse strings I would worry but I think we can trust Mr Henry to make sure we get a fair deal at the right price. He is certainly no Abramovich throwing money around unnecessarily or the guy who finance City.

Rings kinda true...'cos in the highlights I didn't think it directed at the bench at all.
