    Hello!

We are a group of students in Sport Management at the Copenhagen Business Academy.

We are conducting a survey as part of our research - we are looking into how the NFL can most efficiently expand to the UK and what is the fans' attitude towards that.

Please fill out the survey, it won't take you a long time but it will add a lot of value to our research.

    URLs removed

We can post the findings of our analysis later on, if you're interested.

    Thanks!

Edit: I have removed the URLs now because we have collected plenty of responses and we'll start analyzing them.
A big thanks to all that have participated, you have been of great help!

    Hi SPM,

Seeing that you have only just registered on this forum and the first post you create is linking to a survey, alarm bells are going off for me. Before the moderators will delete this thread for spam and what not, maybe it would be better if you give us some more information about your research, why you are doing this survey(for your study, tutor assignment) and why you are contacting us through this board for your survey.

Just a simple check, we have had surveys-posters on Not606 before and they usually get banned or threads get deleted pretty soon.

    Hi Cove,

Yes, I understand what you're saying.

As mentioned, we are 4 students at the Business Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark, currently studying Sport Management.

We are all NFL fans, so we decided to write our semester project on a topic that intrigues us - How can the NFL most efficiently expand to the UK?
It has been obviously recently that the NFL wants to gain more international exposure and tap new markets, and they have already started on that with the NFL International games in London. The purpose of our project is to provide a solution/recommendations for the NFL on this specific topic.

The format of the project is a 25-page research paper. We are looking into the macro-environmental factors in the UK and different foreign market entry strategies and more as part of our secondary research. In terms of primary research, we have already spoken to the NFL office in London via phone and email, asking to interview someone working there (possibly someone working in marketing) and we are currently waiting for their response.

The other half of our primary research is doing this survey - we also want to know what the audience thinks about expanding to the UK and what do they think about having a London-based team, something that has been talked a lot about in the media.

We have chosen this board because the members are active and they are in our target group. We have also distributed the survey in a few other forums/websites, so it gets more exposure and so that we get as many responds as possible to make the study reliable and valid, and also because we have a deadline for submitting the paper.

Alright sounds good, I'm guessing you're doing this BA?: http://www.cphbusiness.dk/english/sport-management

The survey itself, is it for people living in the UK only?

Also, if you need help with gathering information, we have a group of people here that have attended NFL games on Wembley and can tell you all about their experiences with the NFL in the UK.

Hi SPM, welcome, why not get more of your friends to sign up on this forum? They would be most welcome. I think most of the regular guys would love to see a UK franchise, Wembley is not the most used stadium in the country, it would generate a huge income, create jobs etc; Imagine a team from the UK winning the Superbowl or even the Superbowl being held here!

Yes, Cove, that's exactly that BA we're doing.

The survey posted here is targeted for people residing in the US/Canada, but we've also had some European responses on it, which is fine of course.
We have a separate survey for people residing in the UK, are the majority of the people on this forum UK-based? We are actually short on answers on the UK survey.

Hi to you too, pompeymeowth! I'll certainly let them know and I think I'll stay on this forum even after our research is done, looks like a great place for a huge sports fan like myself!

Can't see that happening to be honest, the Americans will go berserk if the Super Bowl was taken away from them.

Thanks for that suggestion, Cove! I would actually like to ask - apart from the actual game, what have the match day-experiences been like? All the other events, like tailgating and more. And are there any NFL-promoting events throughout the rest of the year?

Thank you, people, for the responses on the survey and the support! You have been very helpful.
The survey will stay open until Monday, and then we'll close it down and start analyzing it.

SPM, Not606 is a UK based forum, primarily focused on Football. The NFL section here is in comparison a very small community. We have two users on this board that have gone to the games that I know of: Big Chief and PompeyLapras. You should contact them with a private message and ask about their experiences.

I'm certain you already know by now that the main problem for the NFL in the UK is that they don't have a resident franchise in the country. The debate is ongoing for years now and there have been talks with franchises such as the Jacksonville Jaguars and the St. Lious Rams to move their team to the UK. This is not as simple as it sounds, the stadium and fanbase may be present in the UK, but there big problems with the setup of the league. Some of them are described here: http://www.espn.co.uk/more/sport/story/354795.html.

On your question for NFL promotions I can't help you, they don't promote it here on the continent. PM can probably tell you more about that.

Thank you all for the great support!

I have removed the URLs now and we will start analyzing them.

You guys have been very helpful, I will be back to post the results if you want to see them. I will also start being active across the forums here as it looks like a nice place.
