Out of all the players in our squad who have made an appearance in the past few seasons I predict that we will only have 14 players which will stay on next season these being Solly, Jackson, Harriott, Fox, Pope, Ahearne-Grant, Lennon, Johnson, Holmes-Dennis, Kennedy, Charles-Cook, Umerah, Muldoon and Sarr...

We are going to have an issue with these players on long term contracts like Sarr, Bergdich, Texeira, Bauer who were all given 4+ years. If we do want to get rid of these players but cannot find another club to match the wages they were given by us we will have to subsidise the difference which will continue to eat into our budget. Lets hope there were some more relegation release clauses that possibly Vetokele has for some of the sqaud.

Rumours that Vetokele and Texeira both walk for free now we are down. That Katrien is a shrewd negotiator. Just a pity she seems to negotiate in favour of everyone except us.

The relegation release clause will never be popular with fans - but to have one at no cost when shelling out that much is not only bonkers, but somewhat arrogant. They must have felt so confident then that what they were doing was right (lolz) and there was no chance in this.

What it also does is allow the player to rest in the knowledge that no matter what, come what May he won't have to concern himself. He'll be gone - and due to there being no fee, I'm sure a pay rise to boot.

I believe the journalist who leaked this knew about it as Igor's people let Liege know in Jan that this clause existed. I think we should brace ourselves for more of these clauses possibly coming to light. Not that many of them deserve to be here next year.

Most Championship clubs will have this kind of clause in contracts because of the wages to turnover rule in League 1 (60%).
Last time you were in League 1 your turnover was £12M which means you can only spend £7.2M on wages - last year your wages was £10.7M which has gone up considerably this year (according to Meire http://www.southlondonpress.co.uk/a...r wage budget&sectionIs=sport&searchyear=2015) so I expect you will need to trim at least £5M off the wage bill to comply with the FL or face sanctions!!
