Could have either Swansea or Cardiff/Reading joining Norwich and QPR? QPR apart (who it has to be said have some pretty meaty financial backers behind them), can any of these clubs really survive the top flight? On paper at least, West Ham, Wigan, Birmingham and Blackburn all look to have far superior squads but have all struggled. Even, it must be said, ourselves, Noocarsel, Villa and WBA have not been out of danger till late in the campaign, so what chance have the clubs mentioned of surviving. Blackpool have come in and played really well at times but ultimately, I think they are doomed to relegation. The gap between top of the Championship/2nd tier of English football has always been a big one to circumnavigate but I think its even wider today. All of the promoted teams will have to spend in excess of ã30m IMO just to survive and I don't think any of them will have the ability or the stupidity to do so. Does this make the EPL more or less competitive?
I have a feeling any of the teams coming up, cardiff would fair best. I see them.winning the majority of theor home games and have players in the middle and upfront who can score. On this note I must say I really like the look of scot Sinclair at swansea, but knowing most Sunderland fams he will be viewed as "**** cos he plays in the championship and even daryl murphy looked decent in that league"
I'll welcome all three promoted sides anyway. After all, it's the Hull City's and Blackpools who usually raise eyebrows and light up a Prem. in which the top four or five places are monotonously predictable. There's no longer any interest in the top. I just see these teams as much-needed fresh air. Good luck to them.
I hope Norwich do ok, cracking little club, colurful, passionate, noisy and loyal fans. Well over 20k average in League 1. Downside? Harder place to get to than Kate Middletons knicker draw.
You simply cannot tell how players will be. Some players play brilliantly in the Championship, and then play really well in the EPL. Some players play brilliantly in the Championship, but they're **** in the EPL. We'll see when they come up.
I don't think the gap is as wide as cest thinks. The three that came up last years have done ok, blackpool even have a chance of staying up (albeit a slim one). Take a look at the bottom half of the prem. and ask how would any of them do in the championship, and you will see the gap isn't that big. If clubs like wigan, w. brom, stoke, wolves and so on can last in the prem, why can't norwich, cardiff, swansea or reading...
Glad to see Norwich back. At least it gives us a 50/50 chance of winning some silverware next season!
Personally i would like reading up they were here a few seasons ago and could maybe cope better. Just hope its not bloody cardiff never liked the fans and why should Chopra come here again let him rot in the Championship
In my formative years as a Sunderland supporter, I used to have a bet on every match we played, my three bogey teams were Cambridge, Cardiff and Carlisle. Nowadays dont bet with bookies, only friends, I get more wins that way, but wont have a bet if its Sunderland v Cardiff, kiss of death for three points, and a loss of the hard earned. but whoever comes up, their fans deserve deserve a place in the sun, remember the joy that it brings, so a big welcome to them.
