A tough game awaits us but after the performance Town produced against Sheffield Wednesday we should be going to Villa Park with a lot of confidence even though we threw away 2 points at the death. Despite Goldy being out through that horrific tackle we now have a fit and ready replacement in Huws who is a class player. Obviously I will settle for a draw right now but we should go there with the belief that we can win! Villa 1 Town 2 COYB
I'll settle for a third consecutive draw here. Villa are in good form, they had a strong squad for this level when they got relegated and now the players appear to be clicking together. Steve Bruce is a competent Championship manager and I think they have strong credentials for a play off place. They're another 'big name' club in this division which we have struggled against in recent years. An encouraging performance against Sheffield Wednesday, and the return of Huws, should give us a good platform, but our defensive problems will get exploited. 3-1 Villa.
Some achievement given our form last season! But Villa struggled last season too. They seem a much stronger and cannier outfit this season, they are in good form, they've got a better squad than us, and I think they've got a good chance for a play off spot. We may get a result and I don't think a win for us will be a shocking result, but looking at this realistically, I struggle to see us coming away with anything from this match.
Showing my age but I have very happy memories of Villa Park and very sad ones! Watching Beats play what was to be his last game for us and the sight of him trudging off the park with a broken arm will be with me forever.
I will take 1-1. Villa too good for us to sustain 90 mins of quality footie, let alone our present purple patches of 25!
Sadly no, but travelled bloody miles to watch that amazing team.....half leaving their blood on the hallowed turf!
They'll probably be too good for us bet we'll scrap and somehow come away with an undeserved point. 1-1 with Bart being man of the match
For those who collect Town memorobilia google ITFC FA Cup semi final..... nice signed photos by Beattie & Warky on Ebay! What a team that was..Mills, Warky Beats, Thyssen Arnie Muhren, Mariner, Gatesy...and we saw them. Still cant believe it. I still rate Town winning FA cup better than seeing England beat Portugal in the 1966 semis...as a young 17yr old fan, up from Halesworth on steam train! And buying £10 ticket on the day off honest John tout!
Travelling all the way down to Bristol on a freezing cold January day with snow laying on the ground and in the middle of a Petrol shortage back in 1978! Thank god for Robin Turner!
