If its true he's been told he can leave, then Hernandez would be my preferred choice. Turned Southampton down as he wants european football. Long shot (excuse the pun) but for me the most natural replacement for the job Long does, but with more of a goal threat

Wonder if Victor Moses is on the radar? To the poster above who mentioned Slimani - is that you just writing a name down or do you have anything further to add?

He's not happy at Sporting he wants a new contract because other teams offered him 3 times what he earns now. He was/is on Leicester Radar. He's definetly a great player and should cost less than what we got for Long.

I wouldn't 'recognise' Sagbo as a 'Striker' if he was in a line-up of penguins!

Nope. Not going to bite.

As for potential targets, I would've thought there are a few targets in mind. I'd put a £10m plus add ons bid in for Rhodes, he's quite clearly the best striker outside the Premier League, we might as well get him before Blackburn inevitibly get promoted. It's a risk, but it's one I'd be happy to take. Not quite so much with Deeney, but he's quite pacy and got a decent finish on him. He'd be a cheaper option. If it isn't one of these then I'm not sure who it could be. The one name I'm hoping it won't be is Steven Fletcher, but I'm not sure if his injury record will put off anybody looking at him.

Other than than, we'd probably have to look abroad. The lad at Metz has had two great seasons scoring 19 and 20 goals (Sakho I think his name is). We've missed out on Hosiner, who went to Rennes on a three year deal :(

He is a decent goalscorer?

He is a decent goalscorer?

He sure is. Sporting bought him for 400k last summer. Started the season on the bench behind Freddy Montero and he won the place. 12 goals in the season and a good world cup where he scored against Korea and Russia.

I think we only need to look as far as strikers we've previously been linked with.

Hooper, Deeney or Bendtner - throw Wickham into the mix.

Not really, he's scored one goal a season for the past two seasons and that was while playing for Chelsea and Liverpool.

For anything over £3-4m I'd agree....but for anything under that I'd say yes. That would leave us plenty to spend on a top striker. As soon as we accepted the offer for Long I thought we should be buying two strikers. If Jela gets injured we're %&^ed.

Personally think we should go for Cheick Diabate from Bordeaux, I said Pelle last year & Krychowiak, both had moved onto Sevilla & Southampton - much bigger clubs. Someone will snap up Diabate soon, and he will do well. I'll be pissed if it isnt us.

Edit - I know it wont happen, but I know he will be a success elsewhere...
