This is to discuss what we might look like next season before we start signing new players, and to speculate on who we would like to see in a Leeds shirt.

    GK - Kenny; Cairns

DEF - Byram; Lees; Zaliukas; Pearce; Peltier; Warnock; White; Wootton

MID - Austin; Murphy; Mowatt; Stewart; Dawson; Thompson

FWD - Smith; McCormack; Hunt; Poleon

This gives us 20 players in total, with 16 having to be registered in the 25-man squad (Byram, Mowatt, Dawson and Poleon still U21)

From this group I'd think that Thompson will go along with White and Poleon (loan or sold), and I would like to see Hunt shifted out as well. If we get some quality signings in, then Peltier should be another casualty. Dawson is only just making his comeback from a lengthy shoulder injury, so he may well be loaned out until January to build him up.

Added to this lot I'd like to see Butland and Wickham come on season long loans as they still won't get into their Prem club teams as both only 20 and in need of more experience first ... can't see Poyet or Hughes gambling Prem survival on youngsters, they will probably go and sign more established players if they need to fill these positions.

We will probably get a few Italian players on loan, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if a couple came from Cagliari. So, here's a potential striker from Cagliari who may be a decent acquisition:

Marco Sau (Age 26) 1 Italian Cap

Signed to professional terms by Cagliari in 2005 from his youth club Tonara

    League Matches Only
    2007/8 - Manfredonia (Loan) 31 Games (10) Goals
    2008/9 - Albino Leffe (Loan) 18 (0)
    2009/10 - Lecco (Loan) 30 (4)
    2010/11 - Foggia (Loan) 33 (20) Serie C1
    2011/12 - Juve Stabia (Loan) 36 (21) Serie B
    2012 onwards - Cagliari 52 (17) Serie A

Sau is nicknamed The Duckling and his idol growing up was ..... Gianfranco Zola!! He famously scored both goals for Cagliari in a 2-2 draw with Inter, and made his International debut last year against San Marino.

No doubt we'll be researching the Italian market and looking at potential transfers, and it will be interesting to see what names get added/removed by our "scouts"

Okay, let's start spending the Cellino millions!! And no ... Michael Brown CAN'T get a new contract!!

Billy, Cairns is out of contract this summer that makes 19.

I really can't see Kenny staying this summer. Poleon, Thompson will be loaned out along with Dawson. White will be sold. Morison will probably have his contract torn up.

I think Kebe will be signed if we go up or not. If we don't get promoted hopefully we can get Butland and Wickham on loan for a push for promotion.

Squad will might look like this...

    GK: Butland

Def: Byram, Peltier, Lees, MZ, Pearce, Wootton, Warnock

Mid: Austin, Mowatt, Murphy, Stewart, Kebe, Tongue, Norris

    ST: McCormack, Hunt, Smith, Wickham

    That leaves us with 19

You can forget Hunt, Tonge, Norris and Kebe as a minimum.

Kebe and Hunt will be here next season

Norris we might as well just tear up his contract we'll be less than £100,000 if we sell him. Tonge I'm not sure about his future. I stated in the breakfast thread if we do get a midfielder he'll be a replacement for Brown.

To be fair I wouldn't be surprised if we have a massive clear out to be honest

We don't have Kebe on a contract at the end of the season, it is just a loan. Only Stewart will be our player next season

Also, here is a thread I was going to post in january (right after we signed Kebe and Stewart and before the hefty defeat to Sheff Wed but for some reason there was problems for me on the site and it never got posted, I didn't really feel like it after Sheff Wed game). Half of em have been signed by other clubs now anyway and I admit to probably getting a few wrong in hindsight.

Very aware of that but I have a feeling he'll sign on a permanent even if he don't get promoted

Wow Josh, that's an awesome post ... agree that players like Maguire and Federici would definitely be good moves

Thanks, I spent more time on it than I should've. I do in hindsight think we should be looking more at the central midfield though and the single signing of Upson wouldn't cut it, need higher quality than him especially with Austin turning out the way he has done this back end of the season.
