Going to be a hard one to give to one of our players. Fielding? Moloney Fontaine Flint Cunningham Adomah Elliott Kilkenny Pearson Kelly Anderson Baldock Davies Taylor My choice would be one of either Flint, Fielding or Cunningham
Kelly or Cunningham will probably be the players first on the team sheet (barring the keeper) so I would not be surprised to see it go to one of them.
That possibility is maybe why supporters are not rushing down to the Gate in droves to renew their season tickets. And I notice Shiny has left his favourite player out of the list, the one and only Richard Foster.
ABForF = Anyone but Foster or Fontaine give the captains band to Carey and Vice Captain to Cunningham
I think we all agree he would be the best choice for Club Captain, but does anyone really think he will get enough minutes on the pitch to lead the team, we would end up with the same farce as last season with the Captaincy changing hands. We need stability pick a Captain and run with it, I am sure SOD will sort it out. Wouldn't rule out it being a yet unsigned player
Fielding? - lol no Moloney - Not been here long enough Fontaine - Probably the most likely Flint - lol no Cunningham - Great player, but too young and has only been with us for a year Adomah - Possibly, if he owns the role Elliott - I doubt he'll stay with us past next season so probably not Kilkenny - I reckon this could happen Pearson - Not been here long enough Kelly - Not been here long enough Anderson - Not been here long enough Baldock - Not been here long enough Davies - Not been here long enough Taylor - Not been here long enough Personally, I'd like to see us sign a captain, ideally one that has worked with SOD before and is a true leader on and off the pitch. Only then would it be acceptable to have a player come in and become captain right away.
Like who? We are looking to sign younger players and get rid of as many of the old guard as we can so Fontaine is not likely to be here next year either so why not Elliott he at least is a leader something Fontaine has never been and isn't capable of being.
We do need younger players, but we also need players that can show them the ropes and to pass on their experience. Elliot could be a captain but I think this level is his limit. He's definitely not Championship material for me. If I were to sign someone it'd be Vicente RodrÃguez, who was released be Brighton. He was good for Brighton despite falling out with the manager, and was a part of that Valencia side that went far in the Champions League. I reckon his wages would be fairly low, and he'd probably jump at the chance at a chance to captain a side looking towards promotion like us. Julio Arca could also be a good shout.
Steady on now, don't slate King Marv on here. He is the best centre mid this club has had in a long time in some peoples eyes, so tread carefully or you will be classed as uneducated Pork
