What do you guys think of the opinion that you have to re-build the squad?

Most reports say that the Likes of Terry, Lampard, Anelka and Drogba are too old.

Are you worried about next season or do you think that Chelsea will challenge with just 2or 3 signings?

Chelseas team has been considered "too old" for a while now yet they still challenge at the top. Not many changes are needed, a central midfielder and a winger or two should be enough to keep challenging at the top imo.

I have said on a couple of threds & sites today - I wonder if Lampard is still up to the task

I hope so - but he wasn't at the races last term for me - Drog might not have the desire either

JT was immense & is still first pick though

Anelka - doubt if he'll be about come August

It's hard to say exactly what we need without knowing the system we are going to play. If it is one up top, we dont need a striker. We currently have Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge who can all play up top on their own.

We badly need a creative influence in the middle though like an Alonso/Fabregas type and something special further forward like a Neymar/Aguero/Pastore or a winger like robben/sanchez maybe.

I don't think Drogba and Torres will ever work...one will be out the door this summer...

Reports are emenating that we are going to do a double and sign David Villa and thus enable Cesc Fabregas to swan across to Barcelona

In my opinion i would prefer Pedro to Villa, has more of a work ethic, posesses the Barcelona way of playing and is younger. Villa and Torres does not work.

if we were to sign realistically : VDW, Modric, Pedro, De Bruyne, Lukaku and a winger of quality ala Sanchez or Hazard then we would be set with in my opinion Drogba, Malouda and Anelka all exiting

Suprised we have heard nothing of the Drog moving on so far in the summer break

I'd have thought he'd be one of the first, - but then as we have no manager.....be interesting to see if Guus (there i've given it away now) see's Drog as figuring in his plans or not
Depends what formation we are planning to utilise with Torres & whoever else we get I suppose...<ok>

Villa & Torres work well for Spain.

Gourlay said yesterday Drogs is staying, whether that means he'll be featuring in the first team prominently i dont know, i for one hope he doesnt. I would rather we concentrate on finding the right click for Torres, with Drogba as a back up to bring on. Rumours he's going to the spuds in a swap with modric sound good, i don't think Drigbas got more than 1 season in him tbh.

I'm still waiting for the announcement that we've secured a new partner for Torres (along with Sturridge) & the Drog is off back to Marseille

Just Play Torres up front alone or play with another finisher (like D Villa) and let Torres roam (like Spain).

Spurs aren't selling but he wouldn't cost more than 30 mil if he forced a move.
