Ok.... I've read a lot on here about who is leaving (lets wait and see shall we) but what should our priorities for squad strengthening be for next season. Which positions should we strengthen or get cover in for.

I've never been a fan of paying stupid money for players ie the Chelsky and Man U of this world but should we be looking abroad again or to bring on young home grown players. Bony has been a success and I believe he will get better next season (I dont buy he is leaving after his recent goal celebrations) - whilst £12 million is a hell of a lot money should we be looking at this amount again? ....if the player is the type we need then why not ?

We in my opinion need to be more direct - this has started again under GM - I would favour signing Emnes as a start and tying up De Guzman on a contract......discuss (and be polite please :) )

For me I would splash the cash on a player in the Leon mould. Leon as much as we love him, is not going to last forever, and without him we know we struggle, so why not get a good replacement in, and not do so by tight purse strings, but spend a little on the one role that our club cannot do without.

It's nice to have British players on board, but for me a club like ours need to bring in the best players we can on the limited budget we have.

12 million for Bony - who without, in my opinion, we would be relegated. So that 12 million is a drop in the ocean compared to the rewards we get for being in the PL.

If he does go, then we will need someone very good to replace him or we'll really struggle to get goals. If that means spending 12 million again - then so be it.

I've been disappointed with Vorm this season, and Tremmel when he was called upon, so maybe a new goalkeeper should be on the list.

Defence could be the biggest rebuild when the smoke clears . Rangel should be a squad player next season and I think Williams Chico and Taylor wont be with us come fall . Emnes is a good start up front as a 2nd striker but we will need a replacement for Bony also imo . We will see how the midfield pans out, but we will have a huge rebuild on our hands . I think the board will be non ambitious this summer and will sail close to the relegation line while being super frugal.

Id like to see Taylor in the RB role. Still think Chico is our best defender, albeit he has the bad streak in him to make a mistake, but then what defender doesn't. If he stopped his play acting, he would be easier to accept I think.

I think Chico is our best defender also swansa , I think he will want to try his luck elsewhere , not because he will be shown the door.

Just curious as to why. Don't you like rangel there. I know Taylor played RB in that Olympic ****e. but if you dont think Rangel is good enough wouldnt you rather bring in a natural RB.

There's a few players I won't cry over if they go and Chico is one. Rangel is now past his best and has absolutely no pace. He loses the ball upfield and can't get back. It's a recurring theme this season. Great servant to the Club and will still have a role to play but shouldn't be first choice now imo.

I'm pessimistic about the new season. I think our better players and some of the Spanish guys who have shown promise will go. Bony is highly unlikely to be a Swans player next season because we aren't in Europe and a bigger club will pay silly money to get him. Huw won't be able to resist. Available players across Europe that are being scouted by 19 other Prem teams need a reason to come here and without paying stupid salaries (Huw won't) there isn't one. We have a rookie manager who isn't known and we've just avoided relegation with only a few games to spare.

    Hope I'm wrong.

When you compare Rangel and Davies, both have been good players, esp going forward, both have been suspect at the back, Rangel is getting on, Davies still has a future. So of the two I pick to keep Davies. Then you have Taylor, who for me is still one of our best players in the defensive mould (full backs anyway) so do we continue to leave Taylor rot on the bench or do we give him a chance to play, and seeing as Davies is younger than Rangel, it is only logical that he may go on to replace Rangel at RB.

For me, Taylor did very well at RB, may well be because the competition was ****, but he still deserves the chance, for me, playing Rangel there now is detrimental to us as a club as playing Taylor could see him get back to his best, which Taylor was very very good for us before his injury.

I think taylor is an ok defender and good cover possibly for both sides. If as everyone seems to think that Rangel is over the hill then we should sign a natural right back not try and get Taylor to swap. So the question you should be asking yourself imo is Ben or Taylor.

Laudrup was always of the view a team needed at least two players per position with preferably an ability to play in other positions. Even though he's gone that reasoning is sound imo. Personally I'd rotate the two at left back. There's not much between them though Davies arguably edges it and Taylor's game has dipped since he's not getting regular game time imo.

Laudrup was a prat who ruined everything and thank god we are now back in good hands, Don't expect any £12 million player as it wont happen as we return to sensible spending again, Emms will be staying and our scouts will have already been targeting players we need, Laudrups way left us short on players as we found out and the board will give Garry all the backing he needs for the right players he thinks we need as we start pegging back our wage structure to a more reasonable level where all the first team squad members can achieve and not just one or two. That is the Swansea way and that is the best way....

I'd like to see us keep Emnes and JDG (never thought I'd be saying that a few months ago!), Assuming no one important leaves a new RB would be required, a left footed wide player, a fast striker or poacher type forward to compliment Bony (who is staying!) and the successor to Leon is a good shout.
We have a few talented youngsters in midfield (academy, youth etc) but we may need someone a bit more experienced to cover the gap.

I'm just glad we're able to look forward to next season in the Premiership, it's been a rollercoaster for the last few years!

With regards the transfer fees don't forget the new mega tv deal from next season onwards.
Where we once might have paid £5m for a player we could now spend £8-9m on someone better. The Prem is a big pull with or without Monk, other leagues are losing money fast but the cash cow of the Prem keeps on giving.
Time for Huw and the board to sign 2-3 big money players to add to a pretty decent team already.

This is why I'm hoping that Glen Hoddle is brought in as a director of football so that he can improve the academy and youth/reserves set up as by all accounts his football school in Spain is very impressive, not to mention he has the pulling power and 'name' to attract players.

So if that's right we wouldn't have bought Bony. Following your logic we would now be well and truly relegated without his goals.

Sorry but I'm finding it very hard to agree with anything you post and I do mean anything. All about opinions I suppose.

That would be interesting Valley, just make sure he's kept away from the disabled seats at the Liberty... :D

Like many fans I'm not convinced that a small club needs a director of football but I don't profess to be an expert. We have enough of those here I think. <laugh>

How did ML leave us short? I thought we had a Pl squad limit of 25, which is pretty much what we had. As usual, you talk nonsense.
