Malcky mackay fav List if odds http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/crystal-palace/next-permanent-manager 6/1 lennon
PDC, or Martin Jol.. Actually that would be a canny partnership, it'd be like watching Bad boys 2, all over again...The nutter and the serious one..
Palace got lucky when Pulis was at a loose end and they eventually persuaded him to take over. I said, in the final week, that Pulis wouldn't start this season but thought he'd quit at the end of last, not the start of this. There was no way he'd risk being relegated as 'Manager of the Year'. They're not an attractive proposition so I don't expect to see the likes of Lennon, Moyes or Jol risking their reputation there. It'll be one of the usual suspects like McKay or an upcoming young manager. The problem with that is that good young managers are thin on the ground, only the likes of Zola, Clough, etc being distant possibilities. However, it's unlikely that a current manager will leave in the first few weeks of the season. I can't see past the ex-Cardiff manager who's used to working with an eccentric owner on a limited budget. I'll have a tenner on it despite finding it slightly pathetic that people call a grown man 'Malky'
Easy money that was tbh ........ winnings on Irvine or Sam being next out of the door. It seems to have calmed down a bit with West Ham so Irvine may be my man.
Sean Dyche, you can get 25/1 on him. No matter what heroics he's worked in the past with Burnley, a few batterings on the trot and those odds will tumble. Do they look capable of beating anybody? Swansea away, United at home, Palace away, Sunderland at home, lose them and he's a dead man walking.
Good shout although he has the supporters on his side and not his back (Didn't realise what I'd said 'til I looked twice.) Who would come in and do a better job after the transfer window is closed? I reckon the Burnley supporters will treat this as another 'season in the sun' tbh.
The longer Pulis is out of work, the more fans of struggling clubs will look at him as a potential saviour... Pulis for me needs to take the reigns of a safe club next, stop with the relegation scraps because sooner or later he'll come a cropper, and be found out. He'd do well at a team like Stoke
Pulis will never manage a safe club, or abroad, so he's lumbered with the bottom half outfits. He's tainted so 'football playing clubs', like Southampton, would be unlikely to take him on. I've been told he's quit to put himself in the frame if Villa or West Brom come calling which they would.
Wouldn't go with our theory of Roy Keane waiting in the wings at Villa though... hmmm. I think he's better than he gets credit for but he'll not get a top club, for the reason you say, he just knows how to play a certain way. He's better than probably half the managers in the league at the minute, I can't see him being unemployed for too long.
I just don't see Keane talking over on a long term basis, just a hunch but it would be a caretaker basis only imo. I joke about his title being 'manager in waiting' but I don't think he's capable of allying himself to a full time job.
I'm not overly sure Lerner would be looking for a 'long term' solution if he was to sack Lambert or Lambert walked out, he's trying to sell the club after all.
If they get this wrong I really think thats one relegation spot sorted. Burnley will win a few at home but I dont think they have the quality to stay up. After that its one from about 8 I reckon.
