    LMD2.jpg Love her in charcoal!

Sorry we are approaching lunchtime however please imagine 'Mutti in Mantel' with one of Victoria's Secrets little numbers beneath the soft texture of her outer wear!

I am gobsmacked, given your extensive travels in Germany and Austria, that you had not heard of the word Bussi before! My goodness, BK, were you visiting monasteries, museums, and art galleries, most of the time? :)

When the time of 'bussi' puckered up I would normally be in full 'Scottish' mode late in the evening and under the influence of the 'demon' so my language skills (as they are) would be lost in the numbed part of my grey matter. It is not everyday parlance at/in racetracks, Springers, gentlemen's outfitters and homely eateries.

Monasteries, churches, museums plus other such refined and rewarding places of peace, thought, penitence, reflection and general withdrawal from the daily fray of getting smashed are certainly within my compass on my visits to Bavaria, wider Germany and Paris.

Hate to think about Koln in January now that my minimal vocabulary has been expanded to include this tasty morsel; better watch myself at 03.18 in my favourite (gay dive) in the 'Alstadt'! Ah well, bucket list and all that shenanigans!

Just had a strange flashback to my earlier days visiting the less salubrious and rather dodgy 'Bars' in Schillerstrasse! Maybe my knowledge of the term 'Bussi' more a forgotten rather than an unknown piece of vocabulary!

:emoticon-0100-smile Well said, BK. It is a very mild word and, on reflection, you wouldn't hear it in a bar or night club of course. Families use it a lot, for example an email to my daughter always ends with the word.

You almost certainly know more about the land I have called home, for many years, than I do. So you were not always in those bars, a few of which I seem to recognize from your pictures. Often kid my wife that I'm off to a little African bar which used to be a stone's throw from us, but moved more to the city centre, if it's still around nowadays. You've never been drunk until you've tried it with palm wine. Thought I was going to die one time on the next morning in Abidjan. Me and my two mates, returning from a trip well north of the city, sat at a tiny roadside hut drinking the place dry of palm wine. Do not remember getting back to our hotel at all, honestly don't. The stuff has such a great taste! Never again though!

I visit two 'African' bars near Barbarossaplatz in Koln; one is more an Ethiopian restaurant however the other is a real gem with great music and locals! Many 'last' drinks there with a wee jig thrown in before bedtime!

    France's Hollande says he won't seek re-election

I wonder why so many are surprised that François Hollande has decided not to try and get re-elected given his dismal position in opinion poll ratings. He probably could not even get in Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet because he has become so toxic. At least he has saved the Socialists the trouble of having to oust him in favour of somebody slightly less electable.
