Looks to be a defining period for Jones and our season. How many points from: Brighton (H) L Fulham (A) L Forest (H) L Everton (A) W Villa (H) L Brentford (A) All of those matches bar Everton are winnable and we should be targeting wins in all of them imo. It gives us a great chance to put some results together and give us some breathing space. On the flip side, should we have a bad run here and pick up less than 5 points then we're in great escape terroritory already. Would have been good to get a signing in ready for Fulham but it seems quiet on that front sadly. Looking at those games it shows how important getting someone in early could be.
Forgot my prediction. I'm going to go for 7 points with 2 wins, a draw, and 3 defeats (one of which will undoubtedly be at Goodison) .
Brighton (H) L Fulham (A) D Forest (H) W Everton (A) L Villa (H) D Brentford (A) L 5 points. Yes Lincoln hacked my account.
Tricky to predict but I'm going: Brighton (H) W Fulham (A) D Forest (H) W Everton (A) L Villa (H) W Brentford (A) D Need at least 2 wins from those games. I'd be satisfied with 8 or 9 points, pleased with 10 or 11, delighted with anything more.
If the rest are winnable, 17th place Everton definitely is. Not that it will be easy, but if you look at games you could realistically win then you'd say all sides in the bottom half. Trouble is this league is so tough there are no easy games.
Everton is definitely winnable but we have a wretched record at Goodison so not expecting anything there.
Judging from the reaction to a cup win, albeit with a slow start, against Lincoln, I don't think fans are going to be patient with Jones. This run will define our season and possibly Jones' reign with us. If we don't get at least 8/9 points we are down. Brighton (H): D Fulham (A): L Forest (H): W Everton (A): L Villa (H): D Brentford (A): W Hard to predict as we don't know much about Jones. So 8 points is fueled more by hope that a new manager and signings turns our season around!
We are in the championship if this is accurate. This period of games is as absolutely vital. I can’t make a prediction. I literally have no idea. If we play the same as we have been I think the only game we get anything is Forest. Brighton, Villa and Brentford definitely have too much for us. We always lose at Goodison. And Fulham looked quality before the break. So… not feeling positive
Like you say I can’t really make a prediction. Every game on paper looks very tough at the moment. I think if you were to ask a neutral they’d probably say my prediction was pretty fair based on what we have seen this season I do think if we can beat Brighton we might go on a mini run of sorts and pick up a few more points. Something like a draw against Fulham and beat Forest, then maybe 2/3 more points from the next 3 games. Of all the games on that list I actually think Brighton is the most winnable as well
I know it is strange, but I would feel more confident with Ralph in charge. Maybe he was the comfy pair of slippers, but NJ will either sink or swim over th next 6 games. EDIT: Remember I always said be careful what you wish for.....
I love Ralph but he was more like the pair that the dog had chewed by the end... please log in to view this image We've got to give Nathan a chance and who knows he might feel like a pair of Versace golden slippers after these six games... please log in to view this image
I'm going for a positive 7-9 points from the home games and maybe another 4 from the away games. The Lincoln game there was rust for sure but if we can give a good performance against Brighton and get a result then I think that will kick start NJ's reign.
If we didn't win there in 2018 while battling relegation in May, them lot hating their manager with nothing to play for, and us being 1-0 up in the 95th minute, then we never will.
Definitely a lot in NJ’s shoulders & I think this period will tell us all we need to know about the rest of the season.
And yet no matter how **** they've been over the years, we've not won there for a generation. There are few certainties in life but Saints failing to win at Goodison is right up there with them.
