...we have to win to keep my hope of reaching the playoffs alive. I have made a post already revealing my blind faith that we can reach the playoffs despite all of the evidence to the contrary but it has reached the point of no return now. We are facing Derby, Coventry and Bristol in those games, we draw or lose any of them then that tiny flame of hope that I had left will be extinguished. As we haven't yet won 2 games in a row, play rubbish at home and have a poor midfield due to injury and being crap I have no clue why there is a flame of hope remaining of any size but still...
I can´t see us getting in the P.O´s tbh but **** do we need to beat the sheep & the Chavs & by a good few goals too.
I'm sad to say the Watford game for me was the last hope! Still I go on Thursday and hope I'm proved wrong?!
The same for me. I'm going to games for the enjoyment of atmosphere and entertainment now rather than the hope of winning.
Yeh but then we have Reading, hull, Birmingham & Blackpool all within the play offs! We also need to take all the points of these guys! Blind faith is what I have, but TBH when was the last time we won 7 in a row? 1992?
My glass is still half full - and I'm sure you won't mind making it a full one if we reach the play-offs? - yes it is a big ask but if we can go on a run after Thursday it is more han feasible - I'm old enough to remember late promotion charges under both Gordon Milne and MON and if you can getthat momentum going, not only to you start a run of winning games, those teams above start to get very nervous and start to drop points .. Blackpool, Norwich and Swansea are all recent examples of teams coming with late runs ... However, if we don't take at least 6 points from the next 3 games then I'll join you at the bar in the Pessimist's Arms
IM getting blootered in the reality tavern, i will leave a pint on the bar for you after you dry off from swimming in de nile...
Play offs are now 11 points away. I can't see us catching them. Let's just enjoy the rest of the season, have a go at the FA Cup and rebuild for next season
Brum are looking like they are the team that'll get into the autos and stay there, West Ham will I dares say win the league then theres Southampton, Reading, Cardiff and Boro so I don't think we have a hope in hell! Oh well take each game one at a time and we'll see but really it's more about a team slipping up rather than us improving
Look forward to the drink - less so about venturing into your drinking haunt in my budgie smuggling speedos!
I think West Ham and Birmingham will fill the top 2 Play offs- Southampton, Reading, Cardiff and one of Blackpool or McBoro
We have taken 12 points off the top 6 and we still have 3 games to play against them, compare that to the bottom 3 we have taken 5 points off them with 2 games to go. We have done well against the top teams but struggle against the bottom teams. That will have to change next season, we need to beat the bottom team, beat the top teams at home and try and get a draw away from home against them
That's the irony of this season, if by some miracle we sneaked in to the play offs we'd do well as we'd be playing good teams! Weird!
I think Nigel should give the team 5 more games to try and mount a play off challenge, if in 5 games time the play offs still look impossible like they do now i think we should start to build for next season, try out a few academy players, different formations and try people in different positions. Jeff Schlupp is now back in full training which is good but he is still a few weeks off. Since he got injured Beckford has got his act together so we havent missed him as much as we all thought. We are trying to extend the loan of Nathan Delfouneso. If there is no chance of Delfouneso coming back next season as soon as Schlupp is fit we should send him back to Villa. We only need people who are going to be here next season. Last season we couldnt do this because we didnt have any players that was ours, they was all loans but now we have a very good squad which is ours. Nigel just needs to mould it into a very good team and i think he will
