Don't ask me why but I have grave concerns about our next 2 games and the recent goings on at Forest don't help me in any way.

The team that could face Forest tomorrow looks very weak on the surface and we can only hope that Sean has had enough time to give them the confidence to get all 3 points against his confusingly run ex-team. Without a win in this game it makes the trip to Cardiff even more daunting because confidence could be at an all time low.

Of course I want City to succeed and avoid the drop, but I have a terrible feeling that if we get no points from our next 2 games then the inevitability of relegation is an almost certainty. The games will be fast running out and the task of moving above the drop zone becomes extremely difficult when the teams above you are out of reach, even if you do win.

Double tough weekends coming up and the need for at least 4 points from the 2 games on hand are a must and anything less may prove to be our demise.

If we got 4 points from the next 2 games would be something I doubt if we can expect anything from Cardiff so 3 points from the next 2 would be the most I could expect unless Albert comes back and plays an absolute stormer against Cardiff which could change everything.

And we have Palace the following weekend so I should probably have made my thread to read "next 3 games"

Our season and long term future is hanging by a thread and could have been, and should have been, strengthened over the years since we regained our Championship status. This current sad state of affairs has been caused by serious short-comings in the desire from the top echelons of City's management. I hate to think what our losses may be in this fiscal year and with some commitment it could have been avoided.

City supporters are a special breed and how on earth they have continued to support this terrible team leadership is beyond belief, and you all have earned my total respect.

Time for the team to step up and repay that support.

Part of the problem seems to have been that in years past, when we had successful teams, there was usually a good base of local, or recruited fairly young to the club, so had an affinity for the club over the last few years we seem to have lost that Apart from Scotty, Louis of course and to a lesser degree Skuse of the players brought in only Adomah, Stead, Elliott, LJ and for a while Basso seemed to have any interest in the club beyond their wages. People can slag off LJ as much as they want but if more players had put as much effort into playing for CITY as he did we would be up the top of the table every year.
It's difficult to say what the current team playing at the Gate feel about the club as so many of them are fairly new to the Club and area, ie Davies, Baldock, Moloney, Foster, Kelly and even Pearson though with him the way he plays it seems it is a lack of 'skill' rather than effort if Pearson had the skills of say 'lazy boys' Kilkenny and former player Noble, coupled with his effort we would only see him at the Gate if we drew one of the top sides in a cup match. That seems to have been our curse over the past say 20-30 years we have not seemed to be able to recruit the young players we need. Where are the Colliers, Gows, Ritchies, Whiteheads, Merricks, Taintons, Cheesleys etc of this current generation not at the Gate during the last 20 years for certain.

To a degree you can succeed with imports for a while but to succeed long term you need a base of players who have come through your system or you get them young enough to make them yours, if you want an example look at the most successful clubs of the Premiership era Man Utd and Arsenal UTD look for the best young players to get into their academy and the best young players from elsewhere and add the imported senior players to that group. Arsenal did it by using Wengers knowledge of the French young players and an extensive scouting network there but when they lost their 'English/British' base they fell apart now with a few British/English players starting to mature they look like they might just start to get back to what they were a few years back.
Now I'm not saying we can compete with those clubs in getting the best players but for years we have missed players on our doorsteps even the Rovers scouting network put ours to shame, thats something we should thank DM for he spotted our deficiences in that dept as soon as he arrived and tried to do something about it almost to the detriment of the playing side as though he was so busy looking towards the future he forgot about the present.

If we can get out of this current mess or if we have to drop down and come back up again we have a manager now who I think can take advantage of an improved Scouting and Academy system to start bringing our own young players through and to start looking at basically getting in players at a younger age in the Man Utd mold and then adding the senior players as and when needed to make the team more successful. I still have hopes that S O'D will get this current bunch of players doing better than they were 'NOT DIFFICULT' I can hear being said and drag us kicking and fighting back into the mix for survival rather than meekly suffer the drop.

Four points from the next three matches would be good.
Less will be disastrous and more will be a bloody miracle!

The pressure will also be on Palarse and Cardiff when we play them more than it is on us.

It might just work in our favour.

Billy Sharp loves playing against us. If we can keep him quiet then we're in with a chance, Looking for the same amount of fight we gave at the 1-0 win over Forest last season and would bite someone's hands off for a 1-0 win coming from a penalty again :)

Cardiff away im buzzing for cant bloody wait. Adomah will be back and im confident SoD will have somebody in on loan at the back so it could be a very good game :)

5 points from the next 3 games is a must 2 wins is whats needed

Thanks redrobin for keeping the faith. Sean has had a lot more time now to address some of the issues that needed fixing and let's hope he knows what to do to get some more points.

Don't think the Blackburn loss was too unexpected with us having a mid week fixture at the Gate and a long travel trip. So let's get back to business and get 3 more home points - will be listening as usual.

    5 points! 5!!!

4 isn't good enough it wouldn't even get us out of the relegation zone. We need yes NEED! a good UNBEATEN run, Everyone else around us has had one so yes we need 6-8 games where we don't lose and now would be perfect timing

Nice idea in theory and one to aim for certainly, but I think we need to beat Forest today first. If we do then we'll carry some confidence on to Cardiff and Palarse and if we're still going after that, the sky is the limit

If we do well in the next 2 - 3 games then we can write yet another thread saying the next 2 - 3 games coud seal our fate.

All of our remaining games are important whether we are bottom two or top two makes no difference the team should go out and win every game that is in front of them.

The most important game of the season, Is that next game. We need to pull away and 5 points is do-able cant see us doing it as a few teams above us are due a winning streak too. Knowing our luck when we hit our form everyone else will as well. Sorry lads cant see us getting out of this

I also think this season will be one of the highest points finish for the bottom 3. Could see top of the relegation having about 47-49 points and bottom having about 40
