Bankrupt Alex Jones spends nearly $100,000 a month https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-64644080 No, not the One Show host. The US gun nut. This is obviously some exotic form of Bankruptcy I've not previously heard of.
Interesting closing statement by the judge in the just stop oil case. I look forward to his remarks if the likes of Zahawi, Mone or Johnson come up before him.
God save us. (This is a pop at the Judge Ken, not you) M'Lud, should 'good people' (privileged white home counties green welly wearers) have the right to just bring society to a halt? The Police might as well just jack it in. Next time a protester climbs up a motorway gantry just close the whole motorway permanently. Supermarkets can run out of food. Hospitals can run out of supplies. Give these crusaders medals, and switch the lights out.
A very sad story all round... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64701028 I'm sure we all feel for Nicola Bulley's family. A dreadful experience just made worse at every turn. All those internet trolls & conspiracy theorists should be ashamed of themselves. That private firm of recovery divers could do with a lesson in humility too. If she's in there we'll find her they boasted. Well it seems she was in there, and they didn't find her. Maybe everyone will calm down now.
There's a shocker... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-64714201 Who would have thought it? It's long past time Grammar Schools went the same way as the House of Lords - into the history books.
You get more grammar schools in affluent areas. Some parents even move to a certain area to make sure their kids get into the school. Other poorer parents don't bother applying to the grammar schools because they don't think their kids will fit in.
Grammar Schools are a hangover from the class system of centuries gone by. The State should not be funding schools that are not open to every pupil regardless of means. This is why we should have a basic Constitution. Every citizen of the UK is born equal. Nobody is better than anybody else. Just better off.
The Government's latest advice to folks who can't buy imported fruit & veg right now is to embrace our locally grown seasonal crops; Like turnips. Do they go nicely in a salad? I was amused by the story yesterday of the woman who was prevented from leaving a supermarket with 100 cucumbers in a trolley. She was apparently going to liquidise them to make some kind of veggie energy drink to sell. Try turnips young lady
Not many will take advice on healthy eating from Ms Coffey. Anyway, the December cold snap killed nearly all my spring broccoli.
So Rishi Sunak is congratulating Northern Ireland on it's unique position to trade with both the EU and the UK. Basically what the whole UK had until he and his idiot mates pushed in Brexshit and took that away. Are we hoping to see a reset here?
And hard on the news that NI is in a privileged position because they have access to the EU markets that the Brexit vote took away from the rest of the UK (News is that Scotland are now very psissed off and want the same as NI!), another Tory mess appears, after all Matt ****cock's efforts to say how well he looked after the people in care homes during the pandemic - turns out he was advised to test the people he was taking out of hospitals before inserting them in care homes by Chris Whitty, but decided not to. In a lot of jobs, this sort of thing is called criminal negligence and can lead to prison. However, under the Tory party, circle the wagons and look after our own is the motto. So the hero of the jungle may well get away with the manslaughter he seems to have helped to inflict.
