Sunderland in chase for Swiss striker Published 22:27 13/11/11 By MirrorFootball Recommend . Steve Bruce is in the race to sign Swiss striker Ahmed Mehmedi. Bruce had the FC Zurich star, 20, watched as he made his first start for the full Swiss side against Holland. The Black Cats boss needs a striker and Mehmedi could come for the right price. Yep, thats it, dont know who he is and at the right price, I'm starting to get pissed off. Yes I know its jut gossip but when even the gossip gets depressing, 18 mil for Cisse was at least ambitious sounding gossip.
Ah the mirror. Well your rumour is better than this rumour... Sunderland attacker Stephane Sessegnon is pining for a move back to France – after his family failed to settle in England. The 27-year-old African – signed from Paris Saint-Germain for £6million in January – is currently starring for Steve Bruce’s side in a wide role after starting the season as a striker. But his five children have remained in France and now Sessegnon’s wife is spending less and less time on Wearside, setting the alarm bells ringing at the Stadium of Light http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...-for-a-move-back-to-France-article829875.html
Jesus, Comm, that's more depressing than Syd's depressing news. At least we don't know the Swiss lad. But we know how big a hole Sess would leave in the squad. Mind you, it might just be that one of the kids is a bit poorly that's taking his wife's attention. The Mirror's not the safest source in the world.
Sorry mate, but it is the mirror, so probably a load of rubbish anyway.. One a brighter note. One year today, Chelsea 0-3 Sunderland.. So happy Zenden dance day.
Its only 7.25 and I'm outside the chemist looking for any pills that will see me off, what happned to our wonderful season, remember the summer, all those signings, that big name striker we knew was coming, the excitement.
I've just re-watched that youtube clip. It just shows the fun and enthusiasm Gyan brought to the team and to the crowd. Nobody knows the exact problem there, though playing up front alone and chasing hoofballs can't have been fun for him. I hope it works out next summer. It might. Larsson, Vaughan, Gardner and Sess (if he's still here) offer a lot more support for a striker than Catts, Meyler and Henderson. I hope Asamoah fancies it and returns. He was profile for the club, good for the Foundation, and, let's be frank, a whole lot of fun.
Yes, him as well. A place on our coaching staff for Bolo wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I don't think he'd take it though. He's like a lot of players that age. He can see the end coming up and just wants to get on the field as often as possible before it closes in. Can't blame him, I suppose.
Syd, try teaching Osca Asamoah's dance. Jesus, just imagine it with four legs going at once! Are you smiling yet?
He's actually a very good player Mehmedi, I've seen him play, with Shaquiri (who could become world class) the other bright young "swiss" talent. I say "swiss" cause they're actually all albanian i think or from kosovo and just happen to have swiss passports.
Yes as with some other fans I find it hard to be happy about my team atm. Bendtner was making sounds as if he wanted to move in the press over the weekend, now Sess's family are supposed to be unhappy here. We are struggling to get points, we cannot beat local rivals and we cannot hang onto strikers. I just hope for a decent win and game on Saturday, I do need my spirits living cmon!
Another rumour STEVE BRUCE plans to ease his goalkeeping worries by raiding old club Birmingham for £1million-rated goalkeeper Jack Butland. The Sunderland boss has targeted the 18-year-old, currently on loan at Cheltenham, after Simon Mignolet fractured an eye socket against Aston Villa. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3932902/Jack-Butland-wanted-by-Sunderland.html
With regards to the Swiss lad, I don't see the problem? A relative unknown on English soil doesn't mean he isn't good or won't adapt, half our starting line up are testament to that! The Swiss and Belgians are producing some cracking youngsters at the minute, and honest question, would you rather sign an unknown youngster with potential for pittance or do a Stoke and bring in an aging 'never quite there' striker for £10m ala Crouch?
That's why SB has to go, when he says right price, he means either free or loan, he can't think any bigger, that's why Bent & Gyan left, that's why Sess will go, that's why Larsson & Bentdner won't stay either, we don't have a manager who can think big or reach that little higher, at one time it was the chairman or the owner that kept us down, now it's the manager.

Don't knock buying unknown players just yet. One word = Tiote. It's literally the only way you're going to get yourselves a player who is worth a lot more than what you paid - which is what us clubs have to do when we can't spend massive like Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and so on. It's a riskier strategy, but you could spend £5mill and end up with a £20mill player if the scouting is good enough.
