Thank **** something right has happened today! Did we ever play Rangers in a friendly? I know we played Celtic a few times - 3-7 stands out.
Last played Glasgow Rangers in a pre-season friendly in 1968. Think we won but can't remember the score. Marsh sent off for nutting one of their guys in a bit of a brawl!
They're expecting a 52,000 sell-out for that! Five seasons gate money in one day... As I said earlier, they'll be dancing in the streets of Queen's Park...
I read a comment on another site that said that S Div 1 were so stupid not to allow them in because they are all in debt and need the money. Frankly this will do Scottish football the world of good as over the next few years all Scottish lower league teams will benefit from thousands and thousands of rangers fans several times a season. The main losers are those in the SPL.
Im glad they are in the right place and its good to see the SFA are as inept as our FA and they were trying to get an SPL 2 so they could put them into that despite 95% of clubs, including Rangers wanting to start in Div 3. Im delighted most clubs kept the integrity of the league above their personal gain but if you think about it, Div 1 clubs will get their year of playing Rangers very soon anyway.
I wouldn't want to be going through what the Rangers fans are going through. There but for the grace of God and all that!!
Some of those stadiums up there in Div 3 are tiny, stewards and local police won't know what hit them.
What are the odds on Celtic winning the SPL!! Always thought Scottish football was a joke but this goes beyond. The SPL teams biggest gates are always either Celtic or Rangers at there home, now they've reduced there gate/TV money by stupid amounts just to make a point!!
Livingston got relegated to Div 3 for far less, so why is it any different for Rangers. They are not even Glasgow Rangers anymore.
They'll get round it by re-aligning the leagues into two divisions for the following season and find a way of getting Rangers into the top division. By mid-season next season the TV deal for the following season will be an 'Include Rangers or die' deal. Money talks...
So far no one has mentioned the fans and the "sh1t" they have and will go through It seems to me if there is there is the word "Rangers" in your name then you are in for a roller coaster ride..... We are in the good times - think of them in their dark times (as we have many of them) All the best to you lads - onwards and upwards with respect and dignity as I know you will all do Steve ........
Apparently Sky will wear the SPL next season but will review at the end of next season, they have the option of pulling the plug then, which is why the clubs will find a way of getting Rangers on board in 2013-14. Two divisions and the the top division of 18/20 clubs will include the Div Two and Three Champions 2012-13 as a way of ensuring Rangers are in. In the end it's Sky who run the show and the clubs know the alternative is oblivion...
Besides Queen's Park (Hampden Park) are there any grounds with more than 5000 not including Ibrox, for Rangers fans to watch their team away?
Newco? Sevco? Who gives a ****. The right decision came through today. Just because they are rangers doesn't give them the right to just waltz back into the top division. Given that they have to live within their means on drastically reduced income and stay solvent, I would love to see them stuck in the lower divisions for longer than expected.
