Just picking my fantasy football team and browsing the Newcastle squad I couldn't help but think that on paper we look easily as good as them if not slightly better. Or maybe it's just me.

It's just you. We don't have a strike force nearly equal to Ba and Cisse. (Jokes regarding namesake's aside.)

Coloccini and Steven Taylor vs Hill and Ferdinand?

Only in midfield do I think we come close, and then, they still probably edge it with Cabaye and Tiote a cut above what we have.

I agree, on paper we are not as good as Newcastle. They finished 5th last season, and deservedly so. We wont get near that imo.

Nah I don't think we'll be anywhere near 5th but I do like the look of our midfield (even in comparison to theirs) and I'm betting our Cisse wont be far off theirs in the goal tally come the end of the season.

I think our Cisse will do very well as will theirs. The difference is that ours is 31, can be rash and has broken his legs twice. Theirs is 27 and really did look the business last year. Don't get me wrong, I rate our Cisse highly, a huge improvement on what we started last year with, but Papis, he is not.

Agree, our Cisse is class, but thats all we have up front. BZ and AJ are not goalscorers whereas they have Ba and Cisse.

Guess I'm just feeling particularly optimistic today. If he stays injury and red card free I would think Djib can bag 15-20 goals for us, and a few from elsewhere should easily surpass our measly tally from last season.

nope i agree with you as newcastle did really well last year no reason why we can't be the surprise ... we have a far better cisse as theirs has yet to prove himself over a few seasons ... level playing field IMO there ... Taylor is a ****ing joke of a player as times and scores at lead one own goal a year ... Ryan Nelson far better plus we made even bring in a new CH ... Taarabt far better than ben Arfa and if the Cabaye is better than Park then you need to buy a few books on basic football. add to that our midfield we are a equal match for them ... so what is it ?

Performance ... we have the squad and players now its that easy lads ... if we click and of course no ones knows that yet we should be aiming high

Cisse is a very good player but so is Cisse. Cisse is able to get goals but Cisse can as well. We should try to sign Cisse to go up front with Cisse. Cisse with Cisse would be a great strike partnership. Cisse would dart one way and Cisse would dart the other. The defences would be terrified of Cisse and Cisse up front, especially with a good midfield supplying Cisse and Cisse.

the fact that there is a debate should show you that we are close on paper if not better ... so soon we will know ... and if get 12 points from 4 games then I want all doubters on this site to cut off a pound of flesh ... this year I am going to rip the **** out of the fickle doubters on here. ****ing Swords said 19th ... we go into every match to win and this time around not just with hope ... Disgraceful comments during the game Sat.
If we lose then we bounce back

Our Cisse can score in a blink of an eye theirs is fantastic but a few got how to play against him and the team right and he does fade

Both our clubs have proper fans in fact SJP is my one of my favourites and the people area the best in England.. Both our teams should have excellent home form ... we have Ali bloody Faurlin Taarabt SWP Park Hoilett Mackie ... without doubt the strongest ever QPR team in history ... sorry any old team would never never never cope with today's football at all and that's by the players themselves

Newcastle are a bit stronger than us in attack and defence and of course they have huge support willing them on every game which has to be worth quite a few points over the season. Mainly from referee's:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Cisse, Ba, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Coloccini, Krul...we are nowhere near! In a few years time we can dream however

Of course I'm hoping the Toon finish higher than you boys again, but all the best for next season. <ok>

Should be lots of entertaining games. Can't wait.<magic>

I do have a soft spot for Newcastle and Pardew has really turned things around there. But lets not forget that they were the 'surprise' package last year, as in no one thought they'd do that well. IF they can do it again then they've moved forward, but it could have just been their year. Cabaye and Cisse were revelations for them last season, but have yet to prove it over a few seasons.

But we could do the same, but I think it's more likely that we will struggle early on as the team will probably need to play competitive football for a while before they start to gel. But overall I think we'll finish between 8th-14th.

The big difference is Keeper, CD, and CDM, where they are far stronger than us.

It was amazing how much Newcastle improved last season. They were the team of the season in only their second spell in the Prem since coming up as NPL Champions. This of course happened coincidentally when they lost a certain Joey Barton.

Which side is about to have their second spell in the Prem having come up as NPL Champions and have lost Joey Barton this season?.....<whistle>

Another thing to consider is that both teams changed managers at about the same time in their respective first Prem season. This gave the incoming manager a chance to shape his squad to his suit his vision.

Come on Rangers, we all need a great season. And Rs is coming right up.
