Tomorrow night is the cup final. £5 adults £2 concessions. 7pm KO @SJP, east stand.

Our squad: Soderberg, Alnwick, Tavernier, Nicholson, Riley, Nzuzi, Grieve, J.Henderson, Streete, Hoganson, Inman, Richardson, McLaughlin, Ferguson, McDermott, Donaldson, Edmundsson, Sam Ameobi, Airey, D.Taylor.

Anyone thinking about going along? I'll be there seems like it could be a good game. Fergie is playing as is some of the other lads who have recently been called up to the bench. Also fan favourite (from past reserve games) Patrick Nzuzi is playing!

Pretty strong team we're putting out. Could well be a good game, interesting too.

If I lived in Newcastle I'd definitely go and I hope that many of you that live in Newcastle can make it, because it would be nice to see a big crowd there!

Should be a cracker. That's a decent side but we're more than capable of matching those lads! After a disappointing end to the league campaign it'll be nice to see some silverwear coming back to Croft Park. <ok>

Newcastle Res 3 Blyth Spartans 0

Michael Richardson gave United the lead in the 17th minute when Ryan Donaldson's cross from the left deflected off a Blyth player and fell nicely for Richardson to knock into the Leazes net from six yards.

James Tavernier unleashed a 25-yarder just after the half hour that whistled past Spartans 'keeper, Dan Lowson to double the host's advantage and five minutes later Phil Airey hit a low angled shot after more good work from Donaldson to make it 3-0.

78 mins - GOAL (4-0, Phil Airey) - If the result was ever in question, it certainly isn't now as Airey picks up his second - and United's fourth - of the evening. Put through by Edmundsson, the youngster keeps his cool and produces a sweet strike into the top right corner which gives Lowson no chance.

Airey looks a real talent from what I've read. Think he may be worth a sub appearance in the last couple of games?

I really hope we give him a chance against WBA, just 10 mins at the end...see what he can do!

  12. Why only 10 minutes?

He played extremely well vs Stoke away for 75 minutes, and that was a much tougher fixture than West Brom at home. He also did well vs Everton at home for the full game.

He was easily MOTM vs Stoke away and was unlucky not to score 1 goal atleast.

I say start him on the left wing, and move Jonas to the right wing. I want to see a game with Jonas trying to cross on his right side on his stronger foot, an Ferguson has earned more starts.

  15. Ah, sorry my mistake. Even so, i think there's no harm in playing a sub striker for a long period than 10 mins if we're winning. It's not really as much of a risk as a defender or a midfielder.

  19. What i meant was, if you're in a strong winning position, bringing on an experimental striker is less likely going to cost you the game if things go wrong.

If you're a defender or a mid and you make a mistake, you could gift the opposition goals, but if you're a striker like Airey, it's much less likely that your mistakes are going to cost your team goals, as you're up the other end of the pitch next the oppositions back four.

If we brung on a reserve CB for example, that could cost us the game as he's in one of the most critical positions in the team, and his mistake could let a striker in on goal, as he's one of the last men back.

    See what i mean?
