Interesting that the only recorded injury for a first team player is now Raylor.
I'm convinced that the new lady fitness guru is starting to work her magic.
The temperatures are dropping though so the next couple of months will tell us a lot about how she is impacting on the squad.

It is a great time to have a fully fit squad. The fitness lady will be making a difference, as will not being in the Europa!

Looking an inspired decision to give Pardew such a long contract... <whistle>

As with all things Newcastle, take nothing for granted. But a week without International travel, a partnership blossoming in Remy and (astonishingly) Shola and a lot of options from the bench, suddenly all looks good at SJP.

Sissoko is reborn in the right midfield slot and Pardew has definitely found his strongest formation. I do laugh when I hear people talking about 4-4-2 being outdated and look at one of the most in-form teams in England playing exactly that....it's not as simple as just 2 lines of 4, though, and that's our strength - we attack from both full back positions and from the flanks as well, rarely playing longer balls. At times we almost go 2-4-4!

I also think with this identity comes a clear and simple game plan that can still be open to adjustment throughout the game. We have like-for-likes all over the pitch and it's genuinely exciting. The only shame is that it took a while to really get going.

West Brom tend to come on stronger than Norwich, which may work in our favour if we keep our heads. Question mark over Colo, where his head's at, etc. Mapou's going to be on fire trying to get to Brazil, Willo's utterly transformed and you've got to credit the coaching for that. Sadly I think Mapou will drop to the bench, so the team picks itself.

Krul, Debuchy, Colo, Willo, Santon, Sissoko, Cabs, Tiote, Gouff, Shola, Remy

Hmm, time will tell. We're only a 3rd of the way through this year. His record so far reads, excellent, poor, very good. That very good could quickly become poor if he gets a bad run with injuries and panic's again. At the moment the bloke is doing a good job. I just wish we had the financial clout/will to see what we really could be. I'm still undecided on Pardew once you put all the jokes to one side. That is normal after only almost 3 years in the job. In the modern game it is an eternity of course, but it just goes to show how quickly things can change.

If we do end up having another good season, it would be a good example to the modern owner/fan that this knee jerk attitude we now have is actually not the most productive method. The only people who benefit from it are agents and legal teams in the main. There are always examples where things needed to change, but far more where owners/fans could have waited. That doesn't mean you just plough endlessly, never sacking anyone, but sometimes you have to wait a little while to find out someones actual level.

Some valid points there mate. Joking aside I'll gladly eat a double portion of humble pie if Pards delivers consistency over a long period of time.
You only have to look at the likes of Fergie and Moyes, as well as Wenger to see what long term stability can do to consistency.
I remember a few years when Moyes was inconsistent, much like Pards and he eventually got Everton into a regular top 8 side.

I hope Pardew can. I certainly think the end of this season will be a good time to make a first major assessment on his work if I was owner. If he has done well then you look to the next phase (maybe another 3 years?), see how you go from there. If we drop right off and he starts to panic then maybe be you change him out. If we hit middle of the road then maybe you give him another season. However I never want to see the same mistakes of the past creeping in again. First off we should never appoint a bad fit (Allardyce, Souness), and secondly we should always give our bosses a decent amount of time (3 years) to impose their style.

Anyway back on topic, I think West Brom will be a really dificult game. I hope they draw tonight. That way they are not smarting from a loss, but not buoyed by a derby win. Plus it creates a nice little 5 point gap to them and Villa. I can't help but be hopeful though. We have two days extra rest/preparation time, and we are on a roll. 2-0 win.

Agreed with Hacky Sack about West Brom, think this will be more difficult than Swansea away personally, can see a 1-1 draw.

I think we will draw 2-2.
Steve Clarke has moulded a very tight unit.

We're favourites so I'm going for a winning margin of 1 goal.

Can't judge west brom on tonight's performance because villa have been pathetic.

They are a good team who have played better away from home this year.
