    Full-time:
HVV Hollandia 2 Newcastle Res 2

Having completed their journey across the North Sea by DFDS to the port of Ijmuiden, Peter Beardsey's Reserve squad began a three-game tour of Holland on Thursday evening, against amateur side HVV Hollandia.

Based in the town of Hoorn, Hollandia's 2,500 capacity Juliana Sport Park, lies to the north of Amsterdam and is roughly thirty minutes by train from of the city.

Joey Barton gave Newcastle the lead in the 16th minute but Brian Paul Tesselaar equalised for the Dutch side ten minutes later.

Kalvin Robert then put the home side ahead nine minutes before half-time.

Barton missed the chance to get his and United's second ten minutes after the break when he was fouled in the box by Cees Duijn but after sending the 'keeper the wrong way, his effort hit the right upright.

However, Ryan Donaldson, did level things up for Peter Beardsley's side ten minutes from the end and the game ended all square.

Team: Soderberg, Perch (Richardson 46), Dummett, Cabaye (Sam Ameobi 62), J.Henderson, McDermott, Barton (Inman 69), Moyo, Ranger (Airey 62), Xisco (Donaldson 62), Routledge (Edmundsson 62).
Subs n/u: Grant, Zamblera, Adjei, Newton, Kadar, Folan.
