    Barclays Premier League
    Date - Saturday 13 January 2018
    Kick off - 15:00
Venue - St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne

Following a break from PL action, the Swans' next match is a 6-pointer against relegation rivals Newcastle United.

Both sides will be targeting this game as a potential win, but for the Swans it represents their only 'real' chance of picking up 3 points in a January, given that the fixtures for the remainder of the month are matches against Liverpool and Arsenal.

One unknown is whether either side before the game, will be strengthened by additional signings made in the current transfer window. My guess is that neither side will have that benefit: The Toon seem to be under a self-imposed transfer embargo with owner Mike Ashley wanting to sell the club rather than invest in the squad, whilst the Swans' US owners are also seemingly reluctant to put their hands in their pockets - all 27 pairs of pockets......

Since (and including) their first meeting in January 1915, the Swans and Newcastle have played each other on 45 occasions, with the Swans winning 15, Newcastle 24 and 6 draws.

Swansea's last visit to St. James' Park was in April 2016, and saw the Swans well beaten by 3-0 - this was the Swans' first defeat in their fifth Premier League visit to Newcastle, after having won the last three.

This victory was Newcastle first win under Rafael Benitez as they overcame Swansea to bolster their chance of PL survival - but it would prove to be insufficient come the end of that season.

Jamaal Lascelles headed in from a corner to put Newcastle in front towards the end of an edgy first half.

Ashley Williams and Jefferson Montero missed chances as the Swans dominated after the break, but Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend struck late goals.

Turning to Saturday, my heart says that the Swans will sneak a famous 1-0 victory, but my head says that Newcastle will run out comfortable 2-0 winners. Hope my heart is right!

This is our January Cup Final. Having lost to them at home, I feel it essential we win away.

    Are we capable? Yes
    Result: Newcastle 1 Swans 3

I'm seeing too much respect for Newcastle.
Tough game but one we will win if we play as we did against Spurs and have a half decent ref.

    :)

    I would recommend the Co-op.

If Lascelles is playing I fancy us to win. If he isn’t then it will be a lot tighter with a narrow win to us or draw. Not sure where you will get the goals to win it.

Start with Abraham and McBurnie to wear out the defence then ring on Ayew and Bony on 65 minutes.

Newcastle are not far off as bad as us, having said that, we are seeing green shoots of recovery under our new gaffer, and we now look more attack minded, the win against watford, and the way we held our own against Spurs, should be a good foundation to go to St James's park, not to mention that we got a draw at Wolves, who are the runaway Championship side this season, so I'm going for a 1-2 win for the Swans, confidence is flooding back with Carvalhal a man on a mission!...............<cheers>

I see Peter Beardsley is being made an example of for the racial abuse of Yasin Ben El-Mhanni. It makes you wonder this person was called out by a former top player for not performing and instantly it leads to racial abuse and suspension.Where is the game going?

I hope we win but for the life of me i can't see it....I Think it will be another nail in our coffin myself with a couple more to seal our demise.......All the fault lies with the owners imo, They have the money but they refuse to do the right thing......They are nothing but con men right from the beginning......
