Newcastle United 0-0 Manchester United (Player Ratings)

Krul 7 - Decent game from the lad, didn't have much to do surprisingly but was there when we needed him. Would have got a higher mark was it not for his mistake in not coming out to collect the ball when Chucharitito was in on goal.

Simpson 7 - Good game aswell considering what he was up against. Put in some decent tackles and was consistent. Made a few mistakes with marking but good none the less.

Williamson 9 - Fantastic game from him! Showed determination, strength and some great tackling. He really got in Hernandez's way. MOTD in my opinion.

Colocccini 7 - Solid game at the back, made some silly mistakes but played well.

Enrique 8 - The usual. Unfortunately didn't get involved down the left wing enough though. Had a good game though getting balls out of our half.

Tiote 6 - Good game from the midfield man but he was not at his best. I think he was being too careful about not getting another yellow (although he did...) so wasn't going in for many tackles. Made a few mistakes which led to some Man U attacks so no top marks.

Guthrie 8 - Surprised me. Got really involved. Showed determination and skill. This lad just needs confidence, he is a talent and I think he has potential.

Barton 8 - Tad better than Guthrie, as he improved a lot since Villa. Sent in some decent crosses which were unfortunately not met and played some nice balls. Top player.

Jonas 9 - The best midfielder on the pitch for us today. He was constantly running at their defence when he had the ball. His passing in midfield was class aswell as he was greatly involed in the game.

Ameobi 5 - Invisible again. Won one or two balls in the air, otherwise the only time we could see Ameobi is when we booted the ball upfield and saw him leaning into their defence.

Lovenkrands 7 - Had a really good game, made some great runs and got involved with passing in the midfield. Missed one of our best chances of the game though. Past his best unfortunately.

Ranger - No rating as there wasn't much to see. I don't think he made as big as an impact as Pardew would have hoped but he was better than Ameobi. Kuqi was worth a g o in Ranger's place IMO.

Ireland - Looked decent. But we can't really tell what he's like yet as he didn't get involved very much.




Overall good performance, even though we were stuck in our own half in the 2nd period. There are many positives we can take out of this game.

We earned a vital point today, and that's what matters. HWTL!!!
