Magpies want Taarabt… Newcastle ready to turn to ex-QPR ‘bad boy’ to ease relegation fears image: http://cdn.footballfancast.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Taarabt.jpg please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Date: 4th December 2015 at 4:38 pm Written by Alex Hams | Comments(0) Newcastle could launch a brave move to lure Adel Taarabt back to the Premier league in January In a bid to move clear of relegation, according to reports from talkSPORT. The Moroccan playmaker only joined Benfica over the summer, but has failed to break into their first XI – instead playing for the Lisbon side’s B team. And reports claim that the Portuguese giants are ready to give up on the 26-year-old, with Newcastle having shown an interest. The Magpies are currently embedded in a relegation battle following a horrendous start to the season under Steve McClaren, who is eager to add creativity to his ranks. The enigmatic Taarabt is known to be a talented player when motivated and fit, and the Magpies are hopeful that they can extract the sort of performances he put in as QPR were promoted to the Premier League in 2010/11 – he netted 19 goals – to help them avoid the drop. Taarabt spent some time on loan at Fulham in 2013/14 – the season in which the Cottagers were relegated – before joining AC Milan on loan for the latter half of the same campaign. He returned to QPR for 2014/15, but played only 295 minutes of league football as the London side finished rock-bottom. F*ck me, they really are in trouble if that's the best they can do. Adel isn't the man you want beside you in the trenches when the going gets tough. Will they give him a bus pass?...
Someone at Newcastle knows very little about football. Adel has not pulled his socks off to play for a European giant....who thinks he is going to battle for Newcastle
I wondered how long before the lad would resurface here. He won't like standing at the bus stop in the cold Geordie winter and the fans will crucify him for lack of effort and crap attitude. But plenty of pies and snacks for him to enjoy though.
By far the most gifted player I've ever seen for QPR. It's tragic how he's pissed it away and only has himself to blame.
Neil Redfearn might be ahead of him in that list. At least with Adel you know he won't make a difference, with Redfearn relegation is virtually his middle name.
Newcastle just keep going for players who won't fight for the badge. They are relegated and Tarabt won't help things
If true, a monument to the ego and arrogance of football managers. 'Everyone else has failed to get anything from this player except one bloke for one season six years ago, but I can, because I have magic in my piss'
My reference to the one season was Colin. Speaking to a few Milan fans last weekend they weren't too impressed overall, recognised the skill despised the attitude.
He made a big contribution when we stayed up our first year back in the PL under Colin and then Hughes. Hard to see him repeating that now, but stranger things have happened, the victor in today's key relegation battle for example.
