Derek Llambias, the Newcastle United managing director, announced on Wednesday that he intended to take legal action against Barton following an interview in which the player again attacked the way Llambias and owner Mike Ashley run the club. Still struggling to come to terms with the manner in which he was treated at St Jamesâ Park before agreeing an £80,000-a-week deal at Queens Park Rangers after a free transfer in August, Barton has continued to take swipes at his former employers. Pardew believes Barton should move on. âI keep asking myself why does he keep popping up,â said Pardew, who fought to keep Barton at Newcastle despite opposition from the board. âWhy is he doing it? This Twitter thing might be the answer. âThe only focus as a manager of this club is the team and it is a team that is doing exceptionally well and, unfortunately, Joeyâs comments take away the positive nature of what we are doing here. Itâs a bit frustrating.â Bartonâs latest claim was that he had been forced out because of a row over bonuses, although The Daily Telegraph understands he was never on the player committee that failed to reach an agreement last season.
Just out of curiosity, whats the QPR fans view of him constantly going on about Newcastle? We're sick to the teeth of him, clearly moaning about money again and again and rapidly destroying any hero status he had amongst the more easily convinced of our fans, would you lot prefer he actually concentrate on your club for once?
No, we love it when he talks about Newcastle, his memories, amusing anecdotes and the like. Keeps him out of trouble does that Twitter lark.
Joey Barton row dies down as former Newcastle United player ends feud with club on Twitter Former Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton has indicated he has ended his war of words with the club. The 29-year-old Queens Park Rangers man ruffled a few more feathers on Tyneside this week with an outburst which prompted Magpies managing director Derek Llambias to call in the lawyers. This morning, Barton tweeted: "Pardew's a good man and manager, I agree with what he has said. Time to keep my peace." Pardew's response when asked about the former Manchester City player's latest comments was: "I keep asking myself why? Why does he keep cropping up? "From my point of view, the only focus I have had as the manager of this football club is the team, and it's the team that's doing exceptionally well. "Unfortunately, Joey's comments take away the positive nature of what we are doing here in terms of the players' performances, which have been absolutely brilliant. "Anybody who takes that limelight away from my players, I'm not particularly keen on, if I'm honest. "It is a bit frustrating, but you have got to put in into the perspective of the week we are having, and it means nothing, really." iReader http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ed-player-ends-feud-with-club-on-Twitter.html
He doesn't do himself any favours. The universal opinion of him from Newcastle fans when he joined us was that he was a hero at St james's and nobody wanted him to leave. It was also clear when he joined us that he felt the love from Newcastle fans and wanted to make it clear that he didn't want to leave. But now with the constant tirades, all he's doing is ruining his memory at St james's while delaying the appreciation of most rangers fans. So it seems he's cutting of his nose to spite his face. If he just shut up and committed his passion to his new club he'd not only keep the loyalty of newcastle fans but gain the respect and admiration of most rangers fans.
He should just put a lid on it. I hope COLIN bans players from twitter, its becoming a bit farcical. I'm surprised Fergie allows Rio to keep bleating on the way he does. Is Barton on 80 grand? Bloody hell!
I'd take it as a compliment - he clearly still loves the club and would like to still be part of the team that has started so well. He also says what the fans think (not just NUFC ones at that) about stupid management decisions like the stadium name change. Yes, I would like him to be focusing on QPR and, hopefully, with a line being drawn under it (well done Pardew) he can fall in love with us and show us the quality player that he is (that bit has started). He's trying to rebuild his reputation as a football intellectual and seems to be crying out for recognition, in that respect, so I wouldn't be surprised if the odd comment surfaced re you guys.
I said it before and I will say it now Joey Barton's heart is still up at St James Park, I also said that Barton should let his twitter do the talking on the pitch
