Now I know its Newcastle and its hard for many to be nice but the clubs reaction to the trouble at Darlington is to only sell away tickets, including the derby, to season ticket holders and members, must admit Iâm not sure what a member is. Fist thing to look at is the trouble at Dartington, I think it looked far worse than it was and the number of arrests seem to back that view. Who suffers, the hooligan yes, or maybe no, maybe they are season ticket holders. The honest fan who simply cant afford to go to all games and cant afford a season ticket, all clubs have lots of those, did they invade the pitch, should they pay the price. Will it stop the trouble or will the away fans simply find a way to find a ticket in the home end? I am open to views but it does seem OTT to me.
There will still be filthy scum in the home end at the derby. Not all mags are the same but they do have a long and very checkered history of football violence. Just ask any West Ham fan what they think about the mags but remember to stand well back when you do.
Member is, of course, another word for prick, so they'll all be OK. In all seriousness, I guess the club feel that they need to be shown to be doing something. Given their massive support, I imagine it's mainly season ticket holders and pricks, sorry, Members, anyway.
I thought it was very unfair to punish everyone for what about 20 idiots did. You pay 20 pounds for a membership and the priority goes to ST holders , then members and if there are tickets available it would go to general sale. But that will be no more for away games now. So I guess Ashley's kind of hoping to make more money out of this if everyone starts buying a membership. Come on , it's greedy bastard Ashley , he's not doing it to punish supporters , he just wants the money.
To be fair it struck me, that Newcastle ticketing for an away game wasn't the same as usual for an away game. ie. they left it till late (think it was about 9 days) before starting to sell tickets, this was open to anyone with non season tickets/members paying a booking fee. Also think they stopped selling the tickets a couple of days or so before the match and told them they could down and by them on the day.
First of all, the only reason why there was so few arrests is because there were hardly any police on duty...This just wasn't a few idiots celebrating a goal; but an organised mass pitch invasion, which the Newcastle crowd had been singing beforehand to egg each other on to do it...No sympathy for those who get a ban from me.
"Change the record you boring moron "- right back atcha Dearth Vader trolling wum As for the ban, seems harsh to me
It's just another money making scheme. Fans will now have to become members and they will. The club can also keep an eye on who buys tickets by having proper records. People will still get tickets as people pass them on all the time, but the person who's name it's under gets the **** if any trouble happened involving the person with that ticket. I know if I had someone else's ticket and if I got involved in trouble I would be risking the person who I bought the ticket off, it would make me think twice. Not that I would ever be in that situation.
could also be a bit of a token gesture, so when officials question Newc on how they handle such and such they can say oh yes we are very tough on violence, see how we reacted to xxxxxxxxx
I think you will find that the handfull of Sunderland fans that went on the pitch that day were largely identified and punished...However, in Newcastle's case this was a mass pitch invasion involving many hundreds of people and ending up with violent conflict...You can't even begin to compare the two incidents...The appropriate course of action must be to catch and punish as many of these morons as possible, as I don't think it would be fair to fine the club or dock points because then the innocent majority suffer.
Mags in denial again. Despite all the trouble of the 70's and 80's, no other club has ever petrol bombed another set of supporters to my knowledge and certainly not in the UK. Whatever you may want to think, the simple fact is your clubs fans have perpetrated the single most heinous crime at a football match in living history chums.
You clearly live in some little mackem bubble, Sunderland can do no wrong and everything bad ever done was done by a mag, This was not an organised pitch invation, the song your referring to have been sung for year, it started with Shearer, then moved onto Shola and as Sammy is Shola's brother was just carried over, the invasion was by a few taking the song too serious and running on then the rest followed, at most there was 200 fans ran on the pitch and some where darlo fans. there was at most 20 fighting. How is this any different to the Sunderland fans that ran on the pitch when you won your 1st home derby for like 40 years, at least our fans only attacked each other and not the players as your fans have done TWICE
And we condemned them too. The fact remains that your club have a long and checkered history of football violence and trying to point fingers elsewhere isn't aiding your defence. As football fans we all condemn pitch invasions and such like and I have no problems with Sunderland fans being arrested and banned for similar acts. The most sad and disappointing thing about your post though, is that you at no point condemn the Darlington situation and seem to dismiss it as high jinx? Let me tell you, I saw the pictures on TV and that was as far removed form high jinx as your response here is to good judgement. I notice you have taken the name for this forum from your hooligan element the Gremlins. I take it you approve of them? Do you think the Darlington trouble was actually a bit of good street cred for Newcastle as well?
1st off I was responding to a negative post about my club, at any point did is say I agreed with the invation I gave a reason as to why it happen, not that I agree or disagree, as it stands I agree that its shouldnt have happened and the fans that did run on the pitch should be punished in some way and the 1's fighting should be banned. And to clairify my username has nothing to do with the gremlins, it was a nickname I was given while playing Sunday league football because the team I was playing for had 3 other players called graham (my name) and it has stuck ever since! So please climb off your soap box. Not as if Sunderland fans have a checkered passed to is it, must be great with them rose tinned glasses EDIT Top of the league; http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...tops-the-football-hooligan-league-710815.html
