    Good Afternoon,

Thanks for accepting me on this forum. I was a moderator previously on another forum and have grown restless with the different views of how a site is run and what is in the interests of the posters there.

I am a big tennis fan and look forward to future discussions on the sport

    Thanks

Welcome Legendkillar, I'll look forward to reading some of your input - especially on the tennis forum as it's as dead as a dodo right now. I have tried to breath some life into it but alas so far without any luck. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself <laugh> Your views would be welcomed here, different view amount to healthy discussion which is what this forum is all about.

Yes it's a real shame that there's not much happening on the Tennis Board - especially with Murray marching on to victory after victory (what odds on him winning in Shanghai again?). I think ja606's tennis board is a bit more lively, but not by much. I guess tennis only really exists for 2 weeks every year as far as the UK is concerned.

What do you reckon for next year's slams? Nadal seems shell-shocked after losing so many times to Djokovic (reminds me of Federer once Nadal started beating him on all surfaces). Djokovic has had a remarkable year, but can he keep it up or will injuries really start to take their toll? Murray has just put together an incredible run and if he keeps going will be a real threat. Age seems to be catching up with Federer.

For my view, Murray's run of form is just at the wrong time, there are 3 months until the AO and I think Murray will have played himself out by then. Nadal for the AO, Djokovic for the rest (he's gunning for the FO and I think he'll get it. Nadal was very lucky that Federer did him a massive favour in last year's FO).

I agree, it doesn't help when it doesn't even get a mention on the news in this country. Our own tennis player winning tournaments but it's not deemed as news - shocking!

This is a good read on the latest: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/andy-murray-progresses-at-shanghai-masters-2370694.html

As for next year's slams, hmm it's a bit early for predictions, injuries will no doubt play a part. I can't see Djokovic going on to become another Federer or even Nadal, I can't explain why, just a feeling I guess. He will probably win the French as you say, otherwise here's hoping Andy will win at least one of them!

Thanks for the link, a useful update. Yes fingers crossed Andy chalks one up this year. The AO could be huge for him this time - if he's going to get one then I think it would be in Australia. He seems to do really well down there. But then suffers from massive burnout when he falls at the last hurdle. It would only take Djokovic to be not fully fit at the AO and Murray would be a very serious contender.

Was the tennis site busy on the old BBC site? I remember a couple of WUMs used to post on there to upset Nadal and Federer fans.

It was busy but a few guys on there made their own site long before 606 closed so when they found out it was closing all the 606 members just moved to that new site

The old 606 tennis forum was very busy whenever I looked at it but there were a lot of WUMs, many of them were also footy fans and so only joined in the wumming during the close of the footy season - Wimbledon fortnight mainly. There were also diehard Federer and Nadal fans, they used to clash a lot but it made entertaining reading. Wumming can be funny if it's done well but as a mod you have to watch for it getting out of hand. I often wish there was more lively debate and banter here - I might live to regret saying that.

You have to keep an eye on that StereoTypist you know! <whistle><laugh>
