I hope this lad is a good player but he does not have much experience and it could be a Hector type situation with a talented young player making mistakes to our cost. We have not replaced Sharps or Cansdell-Sheriff with anyone close to their quality and this is our biggest problem which must be solved soon if we are to get out of trouble.
Maybe not but Rotherham's defence has conceded 28 goals with Sharps in it compared to the 26 our much-maligned defence has conceded (and we've played a game more in a higher league). Seems to me it was the right time to replace Sharps. SCS might be a different case but it seems clear he wanted to go anyway and he's not playing at the moment - is he injured? I agree we need to find a settled defence but I don't believe we're as far from the quality of those two as some would have it. I still wish we'd kept Hector though. Of course young players make mistakes but good ones improve quickly and I think we'd have seen that from him.
Surely not - can he even really exist? Anyone else seen the story of Baku FC in Azerbaijan appointing a 21 year old as manager because of his 10 years of experience playing Football Manager? He beat Jean Pierre Papin to the job, despite Papin having managed real clubs and being an ex-international. Perhaps there's a promising Salop teenager ready to replace GT when the time comes ... Hey, maybe my kids!
Shrewdchemic I agree that things do not seem to have gone well for Sharps at Rotheram but it was the pairing of Sharps and Cansdell-Sheriff that worked so well for us. Not only were they very sound defensively but they could both pass a ball and they were both real leaders. Our defence has been awful this year especially down the left and in the air in the middle and it is only Weale's form and ability to save from one-on-one situations that has kept the goal tally against us from being massive. I agree that Hector will make a good player (he has pace, reads the game well and can play the ball out of defence) but he needed a strong experienced centre half alongside him and he never got that. Reports also say Hector caused trouble in the camp and that is not a good attitude from a young player.
Sharps did spend a good period earlier last season hoofing the ball out and only around xmas did the finer side of his game show through. Still would have like him here mind
i think we have an ideal loan frm a club 4th in the premier league. suspect wba scouting, coaching , management systems are a lot more advanced than towns. our scouts are still taking our youth to dib dib and dob dob on browsea island pool. one day our youth will have football badges on their jerseys as well as hiking and cooking. aj feels a song coming on.== ging gan goolie goolie wattchword, gin gan goo. 1y verses repeated here/ any way welcome to cameron gayle, er gin goolie etc. roland was a scout once with the original baden powell, not a lot of people know this.
